Jencik & Lafayette Score Casella Waste Open 80 Feature Wins at Stafford Speedway; Rain Postpones Casella Open 80 to June 14th

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted the Casella Waste Open 80 on Friday, June 7th.  Connor Jencik was a first-time Stafford feature winner in the Limited Late Model feature and Jason Lafayette notched his first Street Stock feature victory of the 2024 season before rain postponed the remainder of the program.  The Casella Waste Open 80 will be resumed from lap-6 next Friday night, June 14th and all rain checks from tonight’s Casella Waste 80 program will be honored. (Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway welcomes open modified competition back to the track this Friday night, June 7 with the Casella Waste Open 80.  Among the drivers looking to win the Casella Waste Open 80 will be 16-year-old modified star Carson Loftin.  After winning SMART Rookie of the Year honors last season, Loftin has taken the SMART Tour by storm this season, winning the first two races of the season and notching 5 wins through the first 7 races to lead the SMART standings.

How Did Northeast Drivers And Those With Connections To The Six New England States Fared At Charlotte And Indy
Christopher Bell made it to Victory Lane in the Cup race with Joey Logano of Middletown, CT coming in 14th and Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT took 26th with Boston’s Kaz Grala ending up 34th while Corey LaJoie ended his day in 35th.
Corey LaJoie is the son of Randy LaJoie who called Norwalk, CT home before he moved to Charlotte, NC to be closer to the NASCAR action in which he won a pair of Xfinity Championships.
Chase Elliott came home the victor in the Xfinity Series race with Kyle Weatherman ended up 10th and Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT got 16th, Patrick Emerling of Long Island, NY came in 30th, Blain Perkins was 35th and Parker Kligerman of Stamford, CT ended up 37th. Weatherman and Perkins both drive team cars for Cape Cod’s Chris and Mary Our that get their US Mail in Harwich, MA.
Tanner Gray won the Menards ARCA Series while Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, NY came in 16th.
Joseph Newgarden won the Indy 500 and Santino Ferrucci of Woodbury, CT. Ferrucci was also in the hunt for the entire 500 miles
