Here’s How Northeast NASCAR Drivers And Those With Connections To The Six State Area Performed At Sonoma And Road America
Kyle Larson won the NASCAR Cup at Sonoma with Corey LaJoie placing 11th with Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT came in 18th, Joey Logano of Middletown, CT finished 21st while Boston’s Kaz Grala  ended his day in 22nd.  Corey LaJoie is the son of Two-Time Xfinity Champion Randy LaJoie who called Norwalk, CT home before he left there to move closer to NASCAR in Charlotte, NC.
Shane Van Gisbergen won the Xfinity race at Sonoma, Parker Kligerman of Westport, CT took tenth place, Blaine Perkins came in 18th, Kyle Weatherman ended up 30th and Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT ended up 31st.  Perkins and Weatherman both drive team cars for Cape Cod’s Chris and Mary Our who get their sleep during the week in Harwich, MA.
Will Power won the Indy Car race at Road America while Santo Ferrucci of Woodbury CT took 15th place.

Late Pit Strategy Pays Off For John Beatty Jr With $9,455 Victory In Oval Speed Unlimited Bubba 150
As the laps clicked off Saturday in the 5th annual Oval Speed Unlimited 150 NASCAR Modified event at Riverhead Raceway, John Beatty wondered if he and his team’s strategy to pit late in the race would leave them the only car not to pit for a change tire. Those fears were quelled when a caution flag flew with 28-laps left allowing Beatty of Merrick to pit for his new right rear tire. That, with some well-placed late cautions put John Beatty in position to win his second race in three weeks at Riverhead Raceway, earning $9.455 including lap money.

During the off-season JB Fortin of Holtsville and family made the difficult decision to leave the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour as a series regular, opening the door for a return to weekly Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series competition at Riverhead Raceway. Saturday, JB Fortin completed his racing homecoming with his 4th career victory winning the 50-lap feature event for his first victory since the 2021 Islip 300.

At least that is what one of the winless drivers this season in the NASCAR Cup Series is hoping how their trip to World Wide Technology Raceway will result. This Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race, the Enjoy Illinois 300 (3:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), is the 15th race of the 26-race regular season schedule, and with just 12 races left to decide who makes the Playoffs, time is of the essence for drivers and teams to secure their spot.
