Corkscrew Hillclimb Provides Thrilling Reverse Course Challenges Fifth Annual Hillclimb Attracts International Entries for Saturday, August 8

MONTEREY, Calif., July 30, 2026 — Christine Sloss returns to defend her Corkscrew Hillclimb title as a field of challengers looks to best her winning time of 29.535 seconds. The Carmel resident was a fan favorite and was loudly cheered as she raced uphill in her bright yellow 2025 Ferrari SF90 XX Spider.

With just one week to go until the Corkscrew Hillclimb, participants as far away as Melbourne, Australia, and Dartford, England are among the Monterey Pre-Reunion drivers gearing up to challenge the iconic series of turns by racing in the opposite direction.

Why Pit Crews and Race Day Staff Need More Than Standing Stamina

Anyone who has worked a full race weekend knows the schedule does not care how your feet feel. Pit crews are up before sunrise for setup, on their feet through practice and qualifying, and still moving during the race itself, sprinting over the wall for stops and standing by for the next call the rest of the time. Race day staff, from tech inspectors to timing and scoring teams to the folks running hospitality, put in similarly long hours on concrete, asphalt, and gravel that do not give an inch.

The FIA World Rally Championship celebrated its 83rd different winner when Sami Pajari took a breakthrough victory at Delfi Rally Estonia, a result that further livens up the 2026 title chase.

Leading from start to finish in his Hankook-equipped Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, Pajari added 28 points to his previous season total of 116 to move into third in the provisional order, 33 points behind championship-leading team-mate Elfyn Evans.

Elliott Sadler to Join Ram’s Free Agent Program with Kaulig Racing at Richmond Race

WELCOME, N.C. — NASCAR veteran Elliott Sadler is coming out of retirement to drive the No. 25 Ram 1500 for Kaulig Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Richmond Raceway on Friday, August 14.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel at Richmond Raceway in front of the great Virginia fans,” said the 51-year-old Sadler, who made 855 Cup, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Truck Series starts, with the most recent in 2019.

“It’ll be fun getting back into a truck — I just hope I still remember how to drive it. Richmond has always been special to me, and I’m thankful to Ram and Kaulig Racing for giving me this opportunity to compete again. I really cherished my career in NASCAR and how special the fans have been to me.”

Special contingency for this event was provided by Paul Arcari from Arcari Motor Sales which paid each 5^th place feature finisher tonight an extra $550 and each 15^th place finisher a $55 bonus. Troy Talman took down his first win of the season in the SK Modified® feature, Adam Gray took his third win in the Late Model feature, Chris Matthews was a winner for the second time this season in the SK Light feature, Travis Hydar was also a second time 2026 winner in the Limited Late Model, and Ryan Waterman continued his domination of the Street Stock division with his sixth consecutive win and eighth win in ten starts this season.
