Scott Dragon Takes First NEFCU+VSECU Labor Day Classic at Thunder Road Hometrack
Barre, VT — Beautiful skies and full crowds greeted the traveling band of American-Canadian Tour faithful for their second visit of the year to Thunder Road International Speedbowl. The NEFCU+VSECU Labor Day Classic saw thirty-one cars enter the pit gate and qualify for starting position in the annual 200-lap holiday weekend event. ACT Rookie of the Year hopeful and current Thunder Road track championship point leader Kaiden Fisher earned the pole alongside former top rookie Erick Sands with both drivers taking a ‘+4’ in the Plus/Minus handicap system.
Fisher would immediately fall back to the rear with a caution prior to the first completed lap with fellow rookie Cole Littlewood. Another quick spin caution re-racked the field once more out of the gate before the field settled in on the lap five restart. Marcel Gravel and Erick Sands battled hard on the return to green but it was the Thunder Road ace Gravel that put the power down on the outside groove. Soon after, two-time track champion Scott Dragon also rounded the ACT regular and set his sights on Gravel. (more…)

Sad News – Scott Bloomquist
Dirt track legend Scott Bloomquist was killed in a plane crash near his home in Mooresburg, Tennessee on Friday morning. The Rogersville Review reported the news shortly after 8:30 a.m., indicating that local authorities confirmed that Bloomquist was “involved in a small aircraft crash.” Bloomquist was 60 years old. Ma Nature smiled on Grandview Speedway Saturday night and allowed a Mom’s Night NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series tripleheader to be completed with Duane Howard battling with Jesse Leiby in the T.P. Trailers 358 NASCAR 30-lap Modified feature beginning on the 15th lap. The veteran campaigner tried to dive underneath the rookie and later attempted the outside trek, but each attempt failed. (Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway hosted its first scheduled Friday night race of the 2021 season with a Stafford Weekly Series program on Friday, May 7th. Michael Christopher outdueled Keith Rocco to win the SK Modified® feature, while both Michael Bennett and Derek Debbis both made it two-for-two in 2021 by winning the Late Model and SK Light feature events respectively. Swanson, driver of the famed Ole Blue for Mike Boehler Racing Enterprises of E. Drellos starts title defense with a big win at Devil’s Bowl
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Demetrios Drellos picked up right where he left off last year: On top at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The reigning Sportsman Modified champion opened the new season on Saturday, May 1, with a dominant win during a wildly unpredictable night presented by Mike’s Fuels of Bridport. A total of 118 racecars jammed the pit area and outer parking lot as a nice spectator crowd filtered in for the 2021 lid-lifter, and Drellos collected a whopping $3,200 for his victory in the race honoring the late Matt Bilodeau.
