Pensacola, FL – The wait is almost over as the season-opening weekend at Five Flags Speedway is now just one week away, highlighted by the Sunshine State 200 presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch on Friday–Saturday, March 13–14.
The marquee Super Late Model event will once again serve as the second race of the 2026 season for the Appalachian Sucker Punch ASA STARS National Tour, bringing some of the best drivers in pavement racing to the Gulf Coast.

Thompson, CT — A partly cloudy day was had at Thompson Speedway’s Saturday opener to the 50th Icebreaker weekend with plenty of rain to darken the spirits on an exciting opening day schedule of events. The crew at Thompson Speedway kept the track dry enough to get in full feature events for both the Thompson Street Stocks and the PASS Super Late Models but the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series was a casualty to the rain and will be postponed to the Friday of World Series weekend on October 11. The ASA STARS National Tour roared to life over the weekend with the inaugural race at Five Flags Speedway. The Sunshine State 200 kicked off the first of ten races for the series, which will see ASA STARS take on the most iconic short tracks and the most iconic races.
With that said, let’s take a look back at what was the Sunshine State 200.
(Pensacola, FL – 03-14-23) A post race altercation involving Casey Roderick and Bubba Pollard has resulted in the issuance of sanctions for Pollard, costing the Georgia driver both points and money.
Race fans who want to see the inaugural ASA STARS National Tour Sunshine State 200 event on Saturday, March 11 will have several options to catch the action.

Pensacola, FL (February 27, 2023) – An impressive list of drivers is lined up for the inaugural event for the ASA STARS National Tour, the Sunshine State 200, on March 10-11 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL. 31 drivers are on the early entry list still two-weeks out from the historic event at the famed ½-mile oval in the Panhandle of Florida.
The list includes 20 champions of Late Model racing, seven Super Late Model crown jewel winners and two ARCA Champions. In fact, nearly 90-percent of the drivers currently registered have won Late Model races in their careers. (more…)
