Thompson, CT — The sights and sounds of Thompson Speedway reopened on Twisted Tea Tuesday last night in the heart of Northeast Connecticut. Four divisions made up the extra money, extra distance program with a spectacular fireworks presentation rounding out the show. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Ty Gibbs raced his way to Victory Lane last weekend at Michigan International Speedway to post his series leading fifth win of the season, surpassing his impressive four Xfinity Series wins in 18 starts from the 2021 season and bringing his career total to an impressive nine wins in 39 starts – a winning percentage of 23%.
As the Round of 10 moves forward in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Playoffs, the 0.75-mile D-shaped oval of Richmond Raceway awaits the drivers for some Saturday night short track racing with the Worldwide Express 250 for Carrier Appreciation on August 13th at 8 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN, and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
There was a lot of hard racing at Michigan but clean air ruled the day as did Kevin “The Closer” Harvick. The win ended a 65-race drought for the veteran Ford driver at a track where Fords have been dominant. The win cements Harvick’s place in the playoffs and now puts Martin Truex, Jr. in jeopardy of not making the grade. (more…)
