The revival of North Wilkesboro Speedway moved one step closer on Thursday night as Speedway Motorsports revealed its initial plans for the historic North Carolina short track.
Speedway Motorsports President and CEO, Marcus Smith was the guest speaker at the Wilkes County Chamber of Commerce 75th Membership Celebration, where he shared conceptual renderings for what was once the oldest venue in NASCAR … and could be once again. (more…)
The purpose-built asphalt track inside Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is unlike any other track NASCAR Cup cars will race on.
A quarter-mile in length and relatively flat, it’s very narrow with an “infield” that’s barely there.
The top drivers across the NASCAR national series were in Charlotte on January 18-19 for NASCAR Production Days, but one took some time to hit the track. Joey Logano of Middletown, CT headed onto the Charlotte Roval and slid around the snow-covered track.
Like most NASCAR Cup series drivers, Ryan Preece didn’t just appear overnight. The 31-year-old Connecticut native began his climb towards the highest level of professional stock car racing in 2007. He first made his name in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour winning the series title there in 2013. He still races in the series part time and has amassed 25 wins, three of those coming last season.
