Entries Flying in for $100,000 Northfield Savings Bank Vermont Milk Bowl

Barre, VT — The Thunder Road Speedbowl office in Barre has been buzzing with preparation for the 62nd running of the Vermont Milk Bowl presented by Northfield Savings Bank on October 5th and 6th at the Nation’s Site of Excitement. Over thirty American-Canadian Tour Late Model teams have thrown their respective hats in the running for ‘The Toughest Short Track Stock Car Race in North America’ with an exciting $104,000 purse awaiting the two-day pinnacle of racing in the Green Mountain State!

It all starts with Booth Bros/Hood Milk Bowl Qualifying Day on Saturday, October 5th with the once-a-year Time Trials for the Maplefield/Irving Late Models! Each driver will take on the highbanks for two laps at speed in a fight for the $1,000 Booth Bros/Hood Milk Bowl Pole Award with $500 going to the second-fastest driver to lock in Sunday’s front row! Kaiden Fisher Crowned Thunder Road’s Youngest King of the Road on Lenny’s Night

Barre, VT — The Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers kicked-off Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Championship Night at Thunder Road with a pair of cautions to start feature racing on Friday. Ty Delphia broke away with the early lead as Mike Martin dropped back with mechanical woes under the hood. A murderer’s row behind him had hard-charging Kyle Streeter and Brandon Gray quickly pull up to Delphia’s rear bumper with Mike MacAskill also digging deep looking for his first win of the season. After already clinching the track championship one week ago, Gray faced off with 2023 Flying Tiger champ Streeter with a long stretch ahead. (more…)

Brandon Gray Claims Record-Breaking Seventh Flying Tiger Victory, Clinches Championship on McGee Hyundai of Barre Super Friday!

Barre, VT — The Maplefield/Irving Late Models started off McGee Hyundai of Barre Super Friday with their 50-lap trophy dash to kick start Super Friday’s five division showcase. Outside polesitter Taylor Hoar got off to a sour start, careening into the infield on lap one to bring out the early caution. Chip Grenier put the pedal down to lead the restart on the outside groove over Stephen Martin and set the pace out front. The caution flew once more on lap 16 as Christopher Bedard stacked up the middle of the pack in turn four, sending Jason Corliss hard into the Widowmaker frontstretch wall and ending his night early. McGee Hyundai of Barre Super Friday Hits Home Stretch for Thunder Road Championships

Barre, VT — Following the Labor Day Classic to open the month of September, the Thunder Road track championship season hits its home stretch starting Friday, September 6 with the rain-postponed McGee Hyundai of Barre Super Friday program! Headlined by a visit from the New England Supermodified Series (NESS), the Maplefield/Irving Late Models, Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks have just two events left in the season to decide their champions while the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors joust in double feature action!

Following his win last Thursday, with his spectacular Labor Day Classic victory not counting towards weekly King of the Road standings, Milton’s Scott Dragon remains in striking distance of Kaiden Fisher’s lead on the Maplefield/Irving Late Models. Dragon has come on strong in recent weeks but has already had a stellar season with the Todd Rueda-owned, CDR Concrete team having taken both the Vermont Governor’s Cup and the Labor Day Classic along with the inaugural Squier Cup triple crown! Capping the 2024 season with his third track championship would put the cherry on top but Fisher still holds a 60-point lead on the veteran. (more…)

Scott Dragon Takes First NEFCU+VSECU Labor Day Classic at Thunder Road Hometrack

Barre, VT — Beautiful skies and full crowds greeted the traveling band of American-Canadian Tour faithful for their second visit of the year to Thunder Road International Speedbowl. The NEFCU+VSECU Labor Day Classic saw thirty-one cars enter the pit gate and qualify for starting position in the annual 200-lap holiday weekend event. ACT Rookie of the Year hopeful and current Thunder Road track championship point leader Kaiden Fisher earned the pole alongside former top rookie Erick Sands with both drivers taking a ‘+4’ in the Plus/Minus handicap system.

Fisher would immediately fall back to the rear with a caution prior to the first completed lap with fellow rookie Cole Littlewood. Another quick spin caution re-racked the field once more out of the gate before the field settled in on the lap five restart. Marcel Gravel and Erick Sands battled hard on the return to green but it was the Thunder Road ace Gravel that put the power down on the outside groove. Soon after, two-time track champion Scott Dragon also rounded the ACT regular and set his sights on Gravel. (more…)
