(Stafford Springs, CT)—Coming off of a career best season in Stafford Speedway’s Street Stock division, Somers, CT native Jason Lafayette is set to make the move up to the Limited Late Model division for the 2025 season. Lafayette matched his career bests with two wins and eight top-5 finishes and set a new personal best with 17 top-10 finishes while contending for the championship all season long before finishing a career best 3rd in the Street Stock standings.
NASCAR was listed Monday as being in talks to bring a race to the planned Qiddiya mega resort in Saudi Arabia toward the end of this decade, but it’s not yet commenting on the potential. The Middle Eastern kingdom is spending tens of billions of dollars to construct the sports and entertainment hub 40 miles southwest of Riyadh, and it is said to have an agreement in place with F1 to eventually shift the race currently held in Jeddah to the Qiddiya Speed Park Track when it opens closer to 2030, potentially as soon as 2028.
North East, Pa. – (September 9, 2024) – The Race of Champions Modified Series has had one of it’s most competitive seasons in history. Six different drivers have won races and 62 different driver’s have earned points as the Series heads into the biggest event of the season, the VP Racing Fuels 250 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA.
Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA; Jack Ely of Northampton, PA; Austin Kochenash of Danielsville, PA; Jake Lutz of Hamburg, NY; Ron Silk of Norwalk, CT; and Zane Zeiner of Bath, PA, who is the current series championship leader have all earned victories this season. Only Hirschman and Zeiner have visited victory lane multiple times. Hirschman’s victories came at Evans Mills (NY) Speedway and Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, PA, while Zeiner has swept the races at Chemung (NY) Speedrome.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Aug. 21, 2024) – After an eight-week summer hiatus on the Cube 3 Architecture TA2 Series schedule, TeamSLR makes a highly anticipated return to competition this weekend with drivers Barry Boes and Carson Kvapil ready to tackle the 3.4-mile, 11-turn Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International circuit during this weekend’s Mission Foods Watkins Glen SpeedTour.
It’s been highly anticipated because, despite the lengthy break in the points-paying national series schedule, TeamSLR and its M1 Racecars enjoyed shining moments on both coasts in the eight weeks since the series contested rounds seven and eight on back-to-back weekends June 22 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington and June 29 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. No matter what he drives, Kyle Soper of Manorville knows how to do two things with a race car, win races and championships. For the third time in the past four seasons Kyle Soper brought home the Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified championship honors at Riverhead Raceway for car owner Wayne Anderson. The tandem hope to ride that championship momentum to a second victory in the Islip 300 Saturday November 13th. Kyle won the 2019 edition of the $7,000 to win Tour Type Modified extravaganza. (more…)
Joey Logano led a race-best 37 of the 165 laps Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway, and those laps out front included a Stage 2 victory and the lead with seven laps remaining in regulation. The driver of the No. 22 Team Penske Ford was feeling good about his chances of capturing his second victory of 2021 and second at the 2.5-mile track in Daytona Beach, Florida.
But then Logano wound up 23rd at the checkered flag in overtime. (more…)
