This Saturday (March 5) night after the 52nd running of DAYTONA Supercross, another chapter of iconic history could be written if Eli Tomac gets to the checkered flag first.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2022) – A day after placing his name in Daytona International Speedway’s record book with his first career NASCAR Cup Series triumph, rookie Austin Cindric was honored Monday during a “Champion’s Celebration” inside the track’s Ruoff Victory Lane. As is customary, there were plenty of special gifts awarded only to a DAYTONA 500 Champion and his team, but then out of nowhere, Cindric began his own tradition.
Barre, VT — Hometown Nick Sweet capped a heavenly weekend by winning his record-tying fourth Northfield Savings Bank Vermont Milk Bowl at Barre’s Thunder Road on Sunday, October 17. After setting a track record during Saturday qualifying, Sweet won the first 50-lap segment and fought the rest of the way to his 23rd career Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Model victory and 12th ACT-sanctioned Late Model triumph.
Anthony Nocella came alive at the right time during Saturday night’s Modified Racing Series feature at Oxford Plains Speedway. After spending the majority of the 75-lapper conserving, he made his charge, taking the lead from Stew McCormack in the final 20 laps and holding off a stiff challenge from Super Late Model standout Joey Doiron to take the win. Last September, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returned to Darlington Raceway for the first time since 2011.
Ben Rhodes won last year’s event and—naturally enough, given the hiatus—revisits Darlington as the only former winner in the field this week. Rhodes also won the first two races of the 2021 season and will try to add a third victory in Friday night’s LiftKits4Less.com 200 (7:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio). (more…)
In a week of contrasts that featured the unveiling of NASCAR’s sleek Next Gen Cup Series cars, Darlington Raceway hosts its immensely popular Throwback Weekend, where race teams pay homage to the past.
But while race fans will see a panoply of paint schemes dedicated to bygone heroes of the sport, drivers will be looking ahead toward the finish line—particularly those accustomed to winning who haven’t done so yet this year. (more…)
In the previous 64 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races contested at Riverhead Raceway there was perhaps no more a popular winner then Eric Goodale of Riverhead when he topped the late Ted Christopher for the win June 28th, 2014. Eric who grew up roughly three miles from the historic quarter mile bullring was swarmed by family and friends after his first career WMT triumph. Saturday May 15th the 35-year old Goodale will come to the Miller Lite 200 at Riverhead as the early season WMT championship leader and is hopeful to repeat the scene from June of 2014. (more…)
Flat track racing is an American motorsport that gained popularity shortly after the end of WWI. It was a craze during the 1920s and 1930s where it stole the majority of the audience that was already interested in horse racing. The gates swung open Saturday evening for the 71st season of stock car racing at Riverhead Raceway and when the checker flag waved on the 50-lap Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified feature John Beatty Jr. of Merrick sat in the winner circle after surviving a late race restart with 11 laps remaining in the race to post his 9th career victory. A solid and talented field of 20 Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds signed in for the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series opener. (more…)
