NY-Area Short-Track Racers Heading South for Daytona Season Openers

Daytona, Fla. — When the 67th annual Daytona Speed Week gets flagged away next week, it marks the unofficial start of the 2025 racing season.

For Central New York short-track modified racers, it also marks the start of their satellite racing programs at the New Smyrna, Volusia and All-Tech Speedways in the Daytona area.

Brett Deyo’s Short Track Super Series Modified Tour got the ball rolling with the 6th annual Sunshine Swing series at the All-Tech Speedway in Lake City, Florida from Wednesday through Saturday.

Tommy Baldwin Racing announced today that Luke Baldwin will pilot the historic No. 7NY to compete for Rookie of the Year honors on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in 2025. Baldwin will compete in at least 12 of the 16 events on the circuit, beginning with the season opener at New Smyrna Speedway’s World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing on February 8.

JDV Productions recently announced that the Whelen Short Track Cup mini-series will include the May 31 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway in 2025.

The Short Track Cup was made up in 2024 by the three Whelen Modified Tour events at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H. Monadnock will host two series events in 2025 on May 3 and July 19.
