Lots of racing and double points proved the saying true, “it’s not over till it’s over” in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds and the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes in the points battle for these two divisions. The way it started is the way it ended in the points battle for the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models and the Peanuts Auto Four Cylinders.
Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville took the lead with 25-laps remaining in the Eddie Partridge 256 Saturday night and drove off his his ninth career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory. The win is the second in as many WMT races in the month of September for Bonsignore who won the September 3rd event at the Oswego Speedway and the late season hot streak has entrenched Justin into the tussle for the 2022 WMT drivers championship. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – What a night and what a RACE!
The 52nd annual Freedom 76 put an exclamation point on another season of T.P. Trailer Modified racing Saturday night at Grandview Speedway, and it will be a race and night remembered for a long time, as Craig Von Dohren of Oley, Pa. was able to score the win in the annual classic, his first since 2015, that was a competitive thriller from start to finish. Bubba Wallace took the helm of the 45 car into the playoffs to help Toyota battle for the manufacturers trophy. A lot of folks were scratching their heads over that move and questioning the sanity of Toyota and 23XI Racing. But a couple of weeks later, all the questions were answered as Bubba drove the 45 to its second victory at Kansas.
It was a night to pause and reflect Saturday at Riverhead Raceway as the track remembered it’s late leader Eddie Partridge on the 1st Anniversary of his passing and also paid tribute to local first responders on the eve of 9/11. (more…)
