Daytona 500: Christopher Bell will make his second Daytona 500 start this Sunday, February 14th. Bell qualified 19th in 2020 for his first career Daytona 500 start. Bell teamed up with his fellow Toyota teammates throughout the race and under caution on lap 185 he was sitting second. Unfortunately, when racing resumed, he found himself without drafting help and got shuffled back in the field. While working his way back forward he sustained damage when a car spun in front of him, resulting in a 21st-place finish for Bell.
- Crew Chief: Adam Stevens will be on the box making the calls for Bell and the No. 20 Toyota Camry in 2021. Daytona will be their first weekend working together at the track, but Bell and Stevens have been putting in the work for months developing a relationship and getting prepared for this season.
- Featured on the No.20 Toyota Camry: No. 20 Toyota Camry will carry the DEWALT colors. Bell will first be on track in the No. 20 DEWALT Toyota Camry on Wednesday for practice and qualifying to kick off Daytona.
- Bell NXS at Daytona: Bell has had some success in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) at the 2.5-mile Superspeedway. Bell has an average finish of 4.0 in his last three NXS starts at DIS.
- 2020 Recap: The 2020 season was Bell’s rookie season in the Cup Series. The season proved unprecedented for all with a world-wide pandemic and the track schedules shifting to one-day shows without practice or qualifying. Despite adversity Bell made the shift and learned how to compete at NASCAR’s top level. Bell closed out his rookie season with two top-five and seven top-10 finishes.
- JGR AT DAYTONA: Joe Gibbs Racing owns eight NASCAR Cup Series victories at Daytona International Speedway (DIS), including the past two DAYTONA 500s. In 147 combined starts, the organization has tallied 35 top-five finishes, 47 top-10s and 1,836 laps led. Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Dale Jarrett, Erik Jones, and Tony Stewart have all wheeled JGR entries to victory lane at the World Center of Racing.
- RACE INFO: The Daytona 500 at DIS begins at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 14, 2021. The race will be broadcast live on FOX, Sirius XM 90, and MRN Radio.
From the Cockpit:
Christopher Bell: “I’ve been looking forward to this weekend since the announcement was made last year that I’d be coming to Joe Gibbs Racing to drive the No. 20. I’m excited to get to Daytona and get the DEWALT Toyota Camry on the track. It will be fun to see how much speed our cars have in them for qualifying and then to work on handling through the course of the week at the Duels with everything leading up to the Daytona 500.”
