Lou Modestino’s Track Talk for Sunday, 10/09/22

The Shane Hammond Memorial race will go off on Saturday, October 15 at the Waterford in CT.  Hammond resided in East Bridgewater and was driving a midget race car when he was killed in an early April accident during the Icebreaker event at Thompson Speedway in CT some years ago.

On the subject of the Waterford Speedbowl, that track will extend the New England racing season by an extra week on Saturday, October 29.  The race will feature the ACT Tour and PASS/Super Late Model Tour as well as the newly organized New England Super Modified Series.  That latter division has been able to get only one race in this year due to weather issues.
The PASS Tour at Waterford will also give East Bridgewater’s Ryan Kuhn another opportunity to pick up more points in his quest of the PASS North/Super Late Model Championship.  At the recent PASS event at the Spud Speedway in Caribou, ME, Ryan managed a fourth place in that event which added to his racing points effort.
On the very busy Modified Tour Type circuit events just in New England, not counting those held in NY State and elsewhere, here’s what’s left in the Six State region.
The NASCAR Whelen Mod Tour goes off on Sunday, October 9.  The Thompson 300 Modified event has been scratched due to lack of entries.  The next Mod Tour Type event goes to Seekonk Speedway on Saturday, October 27 offering the final Tri-Track Open Series Modified race.
Car shows and cruise nights are very popular in the local area.  The MA Cruisers final event of the year will take place on Thursday at Foxboro’s Patriot Place on 10/20 starting at 4 pm.
Today Sunday, October 9 it’s the Great Pumpkin Classic Car Show at the Whitman-Hanson Regional High School located at 600 Franklin St. in Hanson at 10 am with a rain date of October 16.
Three Saturdays ago, the Brockton based Wheels of Time held their Annual Car Show at the Brewster Ambulance garage/parking lot on Rt.28. Over 130 entries turned out and many local entries received trophies.
Also, the 21st Annual of the Gathering of the Faithfull Car Show will return on Saturday, October 15, with a rain date of Sunday, October 16 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Pierce Playground at 26 Jackson St. in Middleboro.
