MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 29, 2024) – Team Penske and EnerSys (NYSE: ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, announced today a multi-year extension of their successful partnership. In addition, EnerSys will continue to partner as a key sponsor for the team’s championship-winning NTT INDYCAR SERIES program.
The EnerSys high-performance brand, ODYSSEY® battery, will continue to be featured as a primary partner for multiple races on the No. 3 Chevrolet driven by six-time INDYCAR SERIES winner Scott McLaughlin. The New Zealander took the ODYSSEY® battery colors to victory lane at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in July of 2022 – his second series triumph.
“I’m excited to have ODYSSEY® battery continuing on the No. 3 Chevrolet into the future,” said McLaughlin. “It’s a beautiful paint scheme that has been very successful for us. Getting my second INDYCAR win in their colors at Mid-Ohio was cool and I know we will have more success in the future.”
EnerSys first joined Team Penske in 2014 as an associate partner across the team’s NASCAR and INDYCAR programs. In addition, EnerSys will continue as an associate sponsor on Team Penske’s three NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) entries driven by 2022 DAYTONA 500 Champion Austin Cindric, reigning NCS Champion Ryan Blaney and two-time NCS Champion Joey Logano.
“It is hard to believe that we have already been together with EnerSys for over a decade,” said Team Penske President Tim Cindric. “We are really excited to see this relationship continue as we have built a great foundation together on and off the race track.”
The final race for McLaughlin and the No. 3 ODYSSEY® battery Chevrolet team will take place on Saturday, August 31 as the NTT INDYCAR SERIES returns to the legendary Milwaukee Mile in Wisconsin. Coverage begins at 6:00 pm ET on Peacock.
“Over the years, our relationship with Team Penske has evolved from an associate partner across the team’s NASCAR and NTT INDYCAR SERIES programs to a primary partner in which our ODYSSEY® battery branding adorns the vehicles of some of the industry’s most elite Team Penske drivers,” said Dave McMullen, Senior Director of Global Marketing, Transportation & Specialty at EnerSys. “The last decade with Team Penske has been an incredible ride and our journey is just getting started; we wish all their drivers a successful year and we look forward to keeping their vehicles powered and in ‘winning’ condition for years ahead.”
