Miami University Students Learn From Indycar Team, Driver To Visit Monday

St. Thomas University and Meyer Shank Racing will soon mark a month of South Florida college students doing experiential learning projects to help the IndyCar team succeed.

Marcus Armstrong, 2023 IndyCar Rookie of the Year, will meet with STU professors, administrators, and students at 12 p.m., Monday, in the Gus Machado College of Business auditorium on STU’s Miami Gardens campus.

Students will present their work to Armstrong, 24, of New Zealand, who drives the No. 66 Honda for Meyer Shank Racing.

STU’s engineering students studied how to shorten pitstop times.

Data analytics students analyzed statistics to improve the team’s performance.

Culinary students learned Armstrong’s nutritional and hydration needs and crafted three different drinks to enhance his performance.

Sports administration students created a campaign to earn sponsors.

And STU’s fashion students designed a new IndyCar-compliant racing suit Armstrong, who will race in a St. Thomas University-themed car at the Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250 August 23-24.
