OSWEGO — Mexico’s Michael Barnes captured his second Budweiser International Classic triumph on Sunday at Oswego Speedway.Barnes started on the outside pole and raced his way to the 200-lap victory over Oswego’s Dan Connors Jr., Oswego’s Dave Danzer, Ohio’s Tyler Shullick, and Fulton’s Brandon Bellinger.
Barnes earned the first-place prize of $17,500.
Completing the top 10 in the track’s signature event for the Novelis Supermodifieds were Jeff Abold, Russ Wood Sr., Camden Proud, Jeffrey Battle, and Nick Snyder.
Fulton’s Dan Kapuscinski won the 60-lap Bud Light SBS Classic when both the No. 41 of Alex Hoag and the No. 90 of Greg O’Connor failed post-race inspection. Completing the top five finishers were Oswego’s Noah Ratcliff, Oswego’s D.J. Shuman, Oswego’s Drew Pascuzzi, and Maryland’s Bryan Haynes.
Rounding out the top 10 in this race for the Pathfinder Bank Small-Block Supers were Brad Haynes, Cameron Rowe Jr., Tony Pisa, Shaun Gosselin, and Rob Wirth.
The Oswego County Tourism 350 Supers battled for 50 laps in the Busch Light 350 Supers Classic, with Jeffrey Battle of Dunstable, Massachusetts getting the win. Ryan Locke, Talen Hawksby, Jim Storace, and Joey Scanlon completed the top five.
On Saturday, Ron Silk raced to his third Toyota Mod Classic 150 victory in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour feature. It was his 29th overall win on the tour, and he is eighth on the tour’s all-time victory list.
Matt Hirschman dominated the first 100 laps of the race. Silk made two pit stops for three tires, and that decision paid dividends.
Silk also won this event in 2021 and 2023.
Unlike his first two Oswego wins, Silk needed to exercise patience around the Steel Palace on Saturday evening. Passing proved to be at a premium throughout the event, which initially forced Silk to follow in Hirschman’s tire tracks as he waited for the right opportunity to get his Modified in clean air.
Tommy Catalano’s spin with less than 50 laps brought out a caution flag and cars headed for the pits. Silk’s Haydt-Yannone pit crew got him the track position he needed. A few laps later, Silk passed Austin Beers and drove away from the field.
Craig Lutz, Patrick Emerling, Beers, and Hirschman completed the top five at the finish.
Andy Cryan won Friday’s Dave London Memorial 50-lap feature for the Super Stocks.
