Memorial Day Classic The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli is back on the East Coast to contest the Lime Rock SpeedTour at Lime Rock Park’s Trans Am Memorial Day Classic. Trans Am racing at the 1.478-mile circuit over Memorial Day Weekend has become a longstanding tradition since the series took the green flag for the first time at Lime Rock Park on Memorial Day of 1967. Since then, 24 of Trans Am’s 42 races held at Lime Rock have been on Memorial Day Weekend. To honor veterans over the Memorial Day holiday, tickets to this weekend’s races are free for active military members, veterans, and their families with a valid ID. Andy Lally Named Grand Marshal New Trans Am Series President Andy Lally has been named Grand Marshal for this weekend’s Trans Am Memorial Day Classic. Lime Rock is a home track for Lally, who is originally from Northport, N.Y. He first raced at The Park while participating in the Skip Barber Racing School, and has gone on to win at the track in Grand-Am, ALMS and IMSA. Lally earned his first Trans Am win at Lime Rock just last year when he co-drove to the victory in the SpeedTour All-Star Race alongside 2023 CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series Champion Brent Crews. Making Wishes Come True at Lime Rock The Trans Am Series will welcome Elijah and his family from the Make-A-Wish Foundation to Lime Rock Park as a guest of CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series driver Bob Accardo (No. 39 Guthrie’s Garage/Race Marketing USA Ford Mustang) and Guthrie’s Garage. Elijah is an active, funny, and caring 12 year old who was diagnosed with Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm (BPDCN) – a rare and aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects fewer than 1,000 people each year. Despite his diagnosis, Elijah continues to shine with his love for basketball and exotic cars, bringing energy and joy to everyone around him. In The Winners Circle This Friday, Trans Am will be joined at the racetrack by 180 students who are part of the Winners Circle Project, a non-profit organization which has been meticulously designed to inspire fresh, young, innovative minds through STEAM programs embedded in the exciting world of car racing. Throughout the course of one academic year, high school students build a Factory Five vehicle from the ground up. This year will see the participation of six different schools, and their racecars will be displayed in the paddock and driven around the track by their instructors. The students will meet with program ambassador and TA driver Chris Dyson, stop by Silver Hare Racing to speak with CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series competitors Noah Harmon and Rafa Matos, receive a technical inspection presentation from Trans Am Technical Director Aaron Coalwell and TV commentator Ben Cissell, visit the Pirelli tire station and huddle up with Lime Rock Park CEO Dicky Riegel and CMO Jamie Kistner. Each school will then give a marketing presentation celebrating everyone’s hard work and naming a winning team. For more information, visit winners-circle.org.
