Sarah Fisher’s Son Danny O’Gara Claims First Formula Car Win

Danny O'GaraDouble-podium weekend in Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway; Danny O’Gara closes gap to championship rivals at a track rich with family history

HOMESTEAD, Fla. — September 11, 2025 — Danny O’Gara scored his first-ever formula car victory today at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Race Series, capping a career-first double-podium weekend and gaining ground on his championship rivals.

The win came at a venue that has long loomed large for his family. Danny’s mom, Sarah Fisher, earned a breakthrough second-place finish at Homestead in 2001—the best IndyCar result by a woman until Danica Patrick’s 2008 win in Japan—and later made her final IndyCar start here before stepping away to start a family.

“It’s impossible not to feel the full-circle emotion of Homestead,” said Fisher, a nine-time Indianapolis 500 starter. “I stood on this podium in 2001, and today I watched my kid climb to the top step in his first formula car win. Different eras, same grit. We’re proud—and we’re hungry for what’s next.”

“Winning my first formula race, here of all places, means everything,” said O’Gara. “We’ve been building speed all season, and to turn it into a win and a double-podium weekend gives me the momentum heading into the final event weekend in the championship.”

Racing with poise and pace across the weekend, O’Gara converted strong qualifying into front-running race craft, delivering the victory and additional podium that nudged him closer in the standings as the series approaches its finale at Sebring in mid-October.

·      Lucas Oil Formula Car Series Finale — Sebring (mid-October 2025)
·      YACademy / USF Juniors potential events — Barber Motorsports Park (November)

With support, the team plans to complete the Sebring finale and carry momentum into the winter development slate.

“Like every ladder program, the difference between ‘potential’ and ‘progress’ is resources,” Fisher added. “If partners want to back a young driver proving it the right way—work ethic, learning, results—this is the moment.”

Despite his age, Danny has already earned wins in some of North America’s top karting series, including:

·      SKUSA Winter Series
·      Route 66 Championship
