After a day-long rain delay, the race finished in a great battle between the two fastest cars on the track, as it should be. Chris Buescher backed up last week’s win at Richmond with a stout performance holding off Martin Truex, Jr. who arguably had the fastest car all day. But as we all know, the fastest car doesn’t always win.
BROOKLYN, Mich. (Aug. 7, 2023) – RFK Racing’s Chris Buescher turned in one of the strongest performances of his NASCAR career, leading a race-high 52 laps and holding off a charging Martin Truex Jr. to win Monday’s rain-delayed NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

There was a lot of hard racing at Michigan but clean air ruled the day as did Kevin “The Closer” Harvick. The win ended a 65-race drought for the veteran Ford driver at a track where Fords have been dominant. The win cements Harvick’s place in the playoffs and now puts Martin Truex, Jr. in jeopardy of not making the grade. (more…)
Kevin Harvick’s victory in the FireKeepers Casino 400 marked the 94th overall win for SHR. It was the organization’s 68th points-paying NASCAR Cup Series victory, its second of the season and its seventh at Michigan.
