DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (October 29, 2024) – Just over a month after Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) announced its new HSR Classic Endurance Championship, a North American food industry giant and motorsports sponsorship leader has been named the presenting partner.
The HSR Classic Endurance Championship Presented by Mission Foods debuts in 2025 in a long-term partnership supporting the first major endurance race championship in the U.S. for vintage and historic sports cars. Competitors and race fans alike, however, will get a preview experience of the new Mission Foods championship this weekend at the 10th Running of the HSR Daytona Classic 24 Hour Presented by Mission Foods, October 30 – November 3. Porsche Penske Motorsport Switches up Its Driver Squad for the 2025 Season
- Two regular drivers pilot the works-Porsche 963 in IMSA and WEC
- Julien Andlauer signs on as the new works driver in WEC
- Andlauer/Christensen and Estre/Vanthoor contest the WEC
- Campbell/Jaminet and Nasr/Tandy tackle IMSA
Porsche is tweaking its Porsche Penske Motorsport works team driver lineup for the 2025 season. In contrast to the 2024 season, now just two drivers will regularly contest the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Former Porsche Junior Julien Andlauer from France has been promoted to the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer’s works driver squad for next year. Three-time Le Mans winner André Lotterer from Germany and four-time IMSA Champion Dane Cameron will leave the successful Porsche 963 programme after their contracts expire at the end of the year. Frenchman Frédéric Makowiecki and Porsche Motorsport have agreed to conclude their collaboration after eleven years. (more…)

Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) has announced that its racing division, Toyota Racing, will formally become Toyota Gazoo Racing North America prior to the start of the 2025 motorsports season.

Sunoco Support Brings Mazda MX-5 Cup Martinsville Purse To Over $60,000
Excitement continues to build for the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin’s first-ever oval race at Martinsville Speedway on October 26. The anticipation isn’t the only thing building, however, as Sunoco has stepped up to add prize money and bring the total purse to $63,000.
The Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup regular season came to a close last week with champion Gresham Wagner receiving a check for $250,000 and Rookie of the Year Westin Workman earning $80,000. Now, Mazda MX-5 Cup drivers can look forward to the possibility of winning even more money at the Martinsville non-points race. (more…)
Wright Motorsports Petit Le Mans Podium Hopes Dashed in Final Hour Incident
BATAVIA, Ohio. (October 14, 2024) – Fresh off the high of securing the Fanatec GT World Challenge America championship title and winning the Indianapolis 8 Hour, Wright Motorsports entered Petit Le Mans with high expectations for a strong finish to the season. Unfortunately, their hopes of celebrating on the podium at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta were shattered in the final hour. An incident with less than one hour remaining in the ten-hour IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race sidelined the No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R with terminal damage.
