IMSA:  Forte’s Good Karma; “Spike” Stays Hot; BMW’s Double Win
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – If the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s new six-hour endurance race at Road America delivers half the action, entertainment and plot twists of yesterday’s two-hour, 40-minute sprint race, a bevy of spectators and television viewers will have gotten their money’s worth.
The phrase “argy bargy” was on display with more car-to-car contact than you’ll see in a month of Saturday nights at your local short track. But there were some popular podium finishers, championship shakeups aplenty and some emotional victors in the Motul SportsCar Grand Prix.
IMSA Insider: See What’s Brewing at Packed Road America IMSA Weekend
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s annual midsummer tour of North America’s iconic road courses continues with a trip to Road America for the Motul SportsCar Grand Prix. Opened in 1955 and celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2025, the 14-turn, 4.048-mile circuit’s basic layout has had minimal design changes albeit several surface changes.
Set an hour north of Milwaukee in Elkhart Lake, Wis., the track has rightly earned the nickname “America’s National Park of Speed.” It’s an apt moniker, one that pays homage to the bucolic nature of the facility’s park-like 640 acres along with the breathtaking character of a track where some of the world’s fastest race cars may top 175 mph three times each lap.
IMSA Insider #609: The Road Ahead: Road America Field Revealed
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The lone IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship sprint race featuring all four classes kicks off the stretch run to the finish of the final four race weekends of 2025. The freshly renamed Motul SportsCar Grand Prix at Road America marks the last time, for now, this race runs at the standard length two-hour, 40-minute duration before increasing to six hours in 2026.
The combination of four championship battles all under 100 points, intense racing, fun family atmosphere and great food and beverage options highlight the annual trip to the track frequently known as “America’s National Park of Speed.”

Three Takeaways: IMSA Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
Analytics Rule; Three First-Timers; A Man For All Seasons (and Classes)
By David Phillips
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – IMSA’s lightning-fast, exotic Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) entries from Acura, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Lamborghini and Porsche bring unquestioned prestige, high-tech, speed and glamour to the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
But as Sunday’s Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park demonstrated, the WeatherTech Championship’s other three classes of Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2), Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) and Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) can put on one heckuva show when left to their own devices.

- Selldorff Ascends to Maiden Michelin Pilot Challenge Win at Mid-Ohio
- Turner BMW Wins O’Reilly Auto Parts 4 Hours of Mid-Ohio; Herta Hyundai Wins Fourth Straight in TCR
LEXINGTON, Ohio – Turner Motorsport has made a habit of developing drivers through its own internal ladder system and may have found its newest star Sunday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Francis Selldorff adds his name to the list of those rising American drivers in the Turner stable such as Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher. Selldorff, co-driving the No. 95 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 EVO with Dillon Machavern, rose to the challenge of fending off an overflowing pool of more experienced IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge veterans to capture his first Grand Sport (GS) class win in Sunday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 4 Hours of Mid-Ohio.
IMSA Insider (Issue 601): Michelin Pilot Challenge Headliner in IMSA Visit to Mid-Ohio
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – For nearly a decade, two IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge races run an additional two hours beyond the standard-length of two hours, but pack a similar punch of parity and picture-perfect finishes. Daytona International Speedway has hosted the most, with its BMW M Endurance Challenge race running to four hours every year since 2017, while Watkins Glen International, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Road America, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course have alternated the second.
IMSA Riding New Wave of Emerging GTP Talents
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Every “era” of sports car racing has its iconic performers. In IMSA’s more than 50-year history, that’s broken down by top-class periods of who’s starred in prototypes.
With the reborn Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class now three years into the formula, there’s a pattern of stars starting to emerge. There are long-time prototype drivers who raced in the previous Daytona Prototype international (DPi) and Daytona Prototype and/or Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) iterations before GTP competing alongside those whose main top-class experience is focused on GTP.
