NASCAR’s XFINITY Series was originally known as the Busch Series, or Grand National Series. It is a training ground for future Cup Series drivers and teams.
After the completion of NASCAR technical inspection, Jeb Burton would first take to the 2.0-mile Michigan International Speedway (MIS) for a scheduled 15-minute practice session on Friday afternoon. With the field broken into two groups Burton would be a part of Group B. In his first laps on track, Burton would record a best lap of 41.882 at 171.912 mph on Lap-9 of his 12-lap session placing Burton 11th of the 39 cars entered for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) Cabo Wabo 250. After three weeks off, the NASCAR Xfinity Series will be back in action at Michigan International Speedway for the Cabo Wabo 250 on August 17 at 3:30 p.m. ET on the USA Network, the NBC Sports App, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio – the 21st race of the 33-race season.

Movin’ on Up!: In January, Young’s Motorsports announced it would graduate from the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series to the NASCAR Xfinity Series full-time in 2024 with rising star Leland Honeyman Jr. behind the wheel of the team’s No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro for the entire 33-race season continuing with Saturday afternoon’s Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan International Speedway. Sheldon Creed and the No. 18 GR Supra crew return from the Xfinity Series’ three-week hiatus to run the Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan International Speedway. Creed has two prior NXS starts at the 2-mile oval and has finished just shy of the top 10 both times, as he scored finishes of 11th and 12th in his two starts, respectively. Creed is familiar with victory lane in the Irish Hills as he scored an ARCA Menards Series victory at the track in 2018. (more…)
Taylor Gray has run eight NXS with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) this season, with a best finish of third in his series debut at Richmond. Gray’s last race with JGR was at Pocono where he earned his second top-five finish of the season. The 19-year-old secured his spot in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) Playoffs last weekend in the regular season finale and will have a chance to compete for the series championship. (more…)

JR Motorsports has competed at Michigan International Speedway a combined 47 times in the NXS since its first trip there in 2006. In those starts at the 2-mile speedway, the organization has recorded two wins, 20 top-fives and 33 top-10s, with an average finish of 9.4.
