NASCAR Cup Series star Ryan Preece, of Berlin, Conn., driver of the RKF Racing No. 60, will join the night’s festivities to sign autographs and serve as honorary starter for the 75-lap Modified Series feature. Preece, one of the sport’s most popular and respected drivers, has been on a hot streak and recently appeared on the Dale Jr. Download with Dale Earnhardt Jr., generating national buzz.
“KIDS RoC” to Conduct Second Consecutive Backpack Give Away as Part of Saturday Night Festivities at Chemung

The event will include another “Backpack” giveaway including school for youngsters. The first “Kids RoC” backpack giveaway was ultra successful this past Friday at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY and another round of nearly 70 backpacks will be handed out Saturday at Chemung as part of the traditional night.

Chemung, N.Y. – (July 28, 2025) – The Race of Champions Modified Series will continue one of the Southern Tier’s most treasured traditions with the running of “The Night Before The Glen – Rod Spalding Classic” at Chemung Speedrome on Saturday, August 9.
The event honors Rod Spalding, a respected Modified driver who received the Sportsmanship of the Year award at Shangri-La Speedway in Tioga, N.Y., before suffering serious injuries at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C. His legacy lives on through the work of the Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers, which continues to support racers throughout the region.
A couple of familiar faces returned to victory lane at Riverhead Raceway Saturday evening when “The Fancy Farmer” Dave Brigati of Calverton won the 40-lap Late Model feature event while Erin Solomito of East Quogue topped the Super Pro Truck 20-lap event. A large crowd on hand for the Monster Truck Night of Destruction greeted both upon exiting their winning machines.
