The speed Venturini Motorsports cars displayed Saturday in the Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire was no surprise, especially after a pair of them qualified on the front row for the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway. The surprise came in the way two of the four VMS cars in the race dropped out of contention.
Last season was magical for Bret Holmes and the No. 23 Bret Holmes Racing team owned by his father Stacy Holmes. In his fifth season of competition in the ARCA Menards Series, Holmes finally broke through to pick up his first career win at Kansas Speedway in July and rode the momentum to become the ARCA Menards Series champion.
The Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire at Daytona International Speedway, the first race of the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13, with a start time of 1:30 p.m. ET. A few weeks after the tease that was the ARCA Menards Series test at Daytona International Speedway, the real deal arrives Saturday, Feb. 13. The tradition of starting the ARCA Menards Series season at the World Center of Racing continues for the 42nd consecutive year with the Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire. But for the first time, the season-opener in 2021 will run the day before the Daytona 500 as part of a Saturday doubleheader with the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
