IMSA: What’s New, What’s Not, and What’s Brewing in the Record Books

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Admit it. This time of year, even the most enthusiastic gearhead grows a trifle weary re-re-hashing last racing season, clicking-on “breaking news” of new liveries, or prognosticating about new season adjustments and tweaks.

Beyond the talk, racing is about to begin. It’s almost time to fasten your seatbelts for the 2026 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Since 1966 and the first 24-hour race at Daytona International Speedway, branded the “24 Hour Daytona Continental,” the unofficial kickoff to the auto racing season starts in Florida. It’s a world class sports car racing featuring 12 of IMSA’s 18 automotive manufacturer partners, 60 cars, and 228 drivers from 32 countries that are among the world’s best to kick off the new IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup seasons.

Invariably, there is much new this weekend. It includes refreshed cars and driver rosters, new alliances between teams and manufacturers, and a bevy of already battle tested cars and lineups.

STAMFORD, Conn. – January 21, 2026 – NBC Sports begins its coverage of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season with comprehensive live coverage of the 64^th Rolex 24 At Daytona endurance race from Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., this weekend on NBC and Peacock, with Peacock streaming flag-to-flag coverage of the entire 24-hour race. The start and conclusion of the race will be presented on NBC and Peacock.

FloSports and Spears CARS Tour West Renew Exclusive Media Partnership for 2026

Today, the pair announced an expansion of last year’s agreement making FloRacing, the leading destination for grassroots motorsports fans, providing streaming and content coverage for all four divisions of the West Coast’s premier stock car series. The 2026 Spears CARS Tour West schedule includes 23 events at 11 tracks across six states.

The season kicks off this weekend with the Spears CARS Tour Southwest Pro Late Models making their series debut at Tucson Speedway with a stout 40-car field for the SoundGear 125. FloRacing will provide live coverage on Saturday, Jan. 17, beginning at 4 p.m. MST / 6 p.m. EST as part of the Chilly Willy weekend.

21st Running Of SpeedFest Set For Cordele GA Saturday, January 24th

CORDELE, GA – For more than two decades, SpeedFest has stood as one of the most respected and anticipated events in pavement short track racing, earning its reputation as the unofficial start of the racing season for drivers and fans across the country.

First contested in 2005, SpeedFest was originally promoted by CRA founders R.J. Scott and Glenn Luckett and held at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida. The event quickly gained momentum, serving as an early proving ground for rising stars and established veterans alike. SpeedFest was held at USA International Speedway for four seasons before the facility was sold and permanently closed.

On Sunday, Acura Meyer Shank Racing went first for its No. 60 and No. 93 Acura ARX-06 cars. The No. 60 has its third different livery since last year’s Rolex 24.

FloSports and CARS Tour Unveil $100,000 Payout Program for 2026 Season

MOORESVILLE, NC & AUSTIN, TX – (January 9, 2026) – Competitors in both the Late Model Stock and Pro Late Model divisions of the zMAX CARS Tour will have the chance to battle for additional bonus money during the upcoming season.

FloSports and the CARS Tour today announced the introduction of the Flodium program, which will payout $100,000 over the course of the season. The program, funded by FloSports, divides each respective season into several three-race segments with the eligible driver who records the best finish at the end of each segment receiving $10,000. The new payout structure means $50,000 is up for grabs in the Late Model Stock Car Tour and $40,000 in the Pro Late Model Tour through Flodium.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The field is set to launch the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season, first with today’s release of the entry list for next week’s Roar Before the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. As this test is mandatory for all teams participating in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the entry list for the Roar should look substantially the same as the entry list for the race when it is released next week.
