PHOENIX — From Christopher Bell’s remarkable third consecutive win of 2025 to the successful season debut of the option tire and a historic start for Katherine Legge—who became only the eighth woman to compete in NASCAR’s top level in more than 50 years—last weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway was a pivotal early-season highlight.
And the reviews are positive.
Steller Motorsport completed the two-day Prologue at the Circuit Paul Ricard circuit ahead of the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe season, and confirmed an entry into this year’s Sprint Cup alongside its endurance campaign.
The team had already enjoyed a successful preseason testing programme, spending days at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and Circuit Paul Ricard in February to better understand the new Corvette Z06 GT3.R cars it is racing in 2025. The driver of the No. 20 Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry XSE for Joe Gibbs Racing has won the last three Cup Series races, becoming the first driver to three-peat since Kyle Larson pulled the hat trick in 2021. AVONDALE, Ariz. — Christopher Bell prevailed in a dramatic side-by-side finish with his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin — the second-closest finish in Phoenix Raceway history — to earn Bell his third consecutive NASCAR Cup Series victory this season, a record in the sport’s Next Gen Car era.
Bell’s No. 20 JGR Toyota went high alongside Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota as the two cars dueled it out in the final two corners of a two-lap shootout on the one-mile speedway. The 30-year-old Oklahoman claimed the historic win by a mere .049 seconds, marking his second straight victory in this spring race at Phoenix. (more…)
