Hayden Paddon benefited from people power to top the order on the opening stage of Rally Islas Canarias, round two of the 2024 FIA European Rally Championship.
With 8000 fans filling the Gran Canaria Arena, plus thousands more watching from the outdoor sections of the 1.80km SSS1 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Paddon delivered the ultimate display in precision driving to set the benchmark time of 1min 30.5sec aboard his Pirelli-equipped Hyundai i20 N Rally2.
Bob Tasca III couldn’t contain his enthusiasm. And regardless of what happened the night before with two blockbuster speed runs being disallowed in Top Fuel, Tasca knew his team had pulled off quite the feat as he drove to the provisional No. 1 qualifier during the first day of qualifying at the PRO Superstar Shootout. For the 25th consecutive year, the American-Canadian Tour teams invaded Thunder Road to launch the Speedbowl’s upcoming season in grand style, yesterday proved that was still the case. Jenson Button finished 18th in his NASCAR Cup Series debut Sunday at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas. The 2009 Formula One world champion qualified 24th for the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix and kept his No. 15 Mobil 1 Ford Mustang relatively clean throughout the 68-lap race around the 3.426-mile, 20-turn road course.
Oxford, ME — The annual American-Canadian Tour 125 at Oxford Plains Speedway headlining the Saturday night before the Oxford 250 program did not disappoint. 38 American-Canadian Tour cars from all six New England states and the Canadian province of Quebec made the trek to the Vacationland home of ACT to take part in one of New England’s crown jewel events. Fireworks on the track split into darkness with a first-time blackout delaying the event in the early goings.

N. Woodstock, NH — Barton, VT’s Shane Sicard made it two-for-two in the J.P. Sicard Inc. Triple Crown Series by winning the 75-lap Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tiger feature at North Woodstock, NH’s White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, August 14. Sicard took the lead from East Kingston, NH’s Bryan Wall Jr. on a lap-37 restart and couldn’t be touched down the stretch en route to his fourth win of the season.
Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y. dominated the Race of Champions Modified Series Billy Whittaker Ford F-50 on Friday night at the Spencer Speedway. Emerling led all 50 laps to earn his second RoC Modified Series win of 2021. Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, N.Y. finished second followed by Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA. (more…)
Barre, VT — Hometown racer Jason Corliss left NASCAR’s Ryan Preece and everyone else behind on the way to his second straight Essex Equipment Vermont Governor’s Cup victory at Barre’s Thunder Road on Thursday, July 15. Corliss took the lead from three-time track champion Derrick O’Donnell on lap 41 of the 150-lap event and dusted the 27-car field en route to a statement win. (more…)
