Thompson, CT — Yet another picture-perfect day greeted the fans at Thompson Speedway to finish off the 52nd Icebreaker with the help of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Single car, time-trial qualifying saw Mike Christopher Jr. leading much of the session before Matt Hirschman and Jon McKennedy both tied with a 19.125-second lap. Hirschman would lead the twenty-nine car field to green for the Icebreaker 150.

Ronnie Williams quickly took the point with just 75 laps on the board to claim the $10,000 winners share at the end. Berndt would put the hammer down in his #11CT to steal the lead away from Williams with Jon McKennedy taking advantage of the backslide to take second. While McKenndy crept up on Berndt at the front, fans had their eye on Mike Christopher Jr. and Ron Silk as they made their way into the top five by lap thirty.

Thompson, CT — A cool spring breeze complemented the hot, on-track action Wednesday night at Thompson Speedway as the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour finally returned to Connecticut to finish off the 51st Icebreaker festivities.
The SK Light Modifieds started off feature racing on Wednesday night with the #45 of rookie competitor TJ Tomasi climbing the #6 of veteran Todd Douillard under the initial green flag start. Righted after a quick debris clean-up, Nick Hovey and Sami Anderson went head-to-head with Hovey getting the jump off turn two. Veteran John O’Sullivan also slid under Anderson to chase after Hovey as Gerard Giordano entered the picture in fourth. A quick spin caution for rookie Sophya Papp saw O’Sullivan rocket to the restart lead around an ailing Nick Hovey but it was Hovey who powered back with a slingshot move to claim the lead and the win in the final corner. John O’Sullivan settled for second with Sami Anderson taking third after Giordano was disqualified for an unsealed engine.
Thompson, CT — With the continued chances of rain remaining steadfast on Friday morning, Thompson Speedway officials have made the difficult decision to once again postpone the remainder of the planned 51st Icebreaker festivities, this time to the new Wednesday, April 16 date.

Thompson, CT — The Saturday portion of the 51st Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway is on as scheduled for Saturday, March 29, as is Friday’s planned Practice Day. However, due to continued rain and cold temperatures forecasted for March 30, the entire Sunday schedule of divisions and events have been moved to Saturday, April 5.
The published schedule for both Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 are still a go with an improving forecast. All originally planned events, times and pricing will remain the same for both Friday’s Practice Day and Saturday’s Day #1 of Icebreaker weekend, including the Monaco Modified Icebreaker 75. (more…)

Beginning in late March through Columbus Day weekend in October, rolling thunder returns to the ‘Quiet Corner of Connecticut’ for ten individual dates in 2025 including the annual Icebreaker and Sunoco World Series weekends along with a return to monthly Wednesday night racing!
