Modified veteran Matt Hirschman made a rare trip down South on Sunday afternoon for an early-season test against the seasoned veterans of the SMART Modified Tour at Caraway Speedway.
The day proved to be flawless for Hirschman, who posted the fastest lap in qualifying, led the most laps and passed Burt Myers for the win coming to the checkered flag after giving up the lead for fresh tires with 30 laps remaining. (more…)
SEEKONK, Mass. — Sitting behind the wheel, or behind the desk, Sammy Rameau seems to get the job done successfully. The 18-year-old, Westminster, Massachusetts, native is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology, with a double-minor in Environmental and Business Management. When he’s not at school, he competes at speeds over 100 mph in his Tour-Type Modified, a 600-horsepower, ground-pounding machine, racing inches apart from his competitors. (more…)

Matt Hirschman was a model of consistency during the first three nights of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing. But the driver known as “Big Money” didn’t earn his nickname by finishing second and third.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Preece locked himself into Sunday’s 63rd Annual Daytona 500. Three hours later, after making the quick drive from Daytona International Speedway to New Smyrna Speedway, Preece stood in victory lane celebrating his second career win in the John Blewett III Memorial for Tour-type Modifieds.
