Austin Beers Collects First Thunder Road Win with Exciting Monaco Mod Finish
Barre, VT – While a heavy fog and mist started off the day, Mother Nature finally changed her ways for Northern New England race fans on Sunday afternoon at the Nation’s Site of Excitement. Thirty-three Maplefields/Irving Late Models filed into the Thunder Road pit area with officials opting to start all cars for the 62nd Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic.
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. – Following a strong and consistent 2024 season that took him to a track championship without a feature win, then enduring a terrible start to the 2025 season, Jeff Strunk of Boyertown, Pa. was able to break the victory drought, scoring the win in the 30-lap T.P. Trailer NASCAR Modified feature Saturday night at Grandview Speedway.
Next Event for Race of Champions “Family of Series” Set for Saturday, June 14 at The Bullring
Perry, N.Y. – (May 22, 2025) – Race of Champions and Wyoming County International Speedway “The Bullring” management have mutually agreed to cancel the event scheduled for Saturday, May 24 due to an ongoing stretch of inclement weather, including predicted precipitation, unseasonably cold temperatures, and poor track and grounds conditions.
On Wednesday, NASCAR announced the following penalties have been issued coming out of the event at North Wilkesboro Speedway:
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Stephen Kopcik has been suspended for one race and fined $1,500. He will be suspended from NASCAR until the fine is paid and is on probation until December 31, 2025.
70th Annual Spencer Speedway Season Opener Now Set for June 6 Featuring the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series
Williamson, N.Y. – (May 21, 2025) – Race of Champions management has announced the postponement of the 35th Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak 110, originally scheduled for this Friday, May 23, at Spencer Speedway. The event will now take place on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Barre, VT – The mighty Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series is ready to make its 4th annual trip to the Nation’s Site of Excitement, Thunder Road for the Granite City 100 as part of the 62nd running of the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic this Sunday, May 25!
The Modifieds have a long but often underrated history in the Green Mountain State. The powerful NASCAR Modifieds were first introduced to Thunder Road in 1965 in a short head-to-head season with the Flathead V-8 Coupes that put the Nation’s Site of Excitement on the map in the early days of Thursday Night racing at the facility. The Modifieds were short-lived to the Spring of ’65 with Coupe drivers and fans alike nearly in revolt but found a home in the often-remembered Catamount Stadium for several seasons afterward while making here-and-there appearances at Devil’s Bowl and Thunder Road over the years.

110 Laps of Race of Champions Modified Series Action to Launch Historic Season
Williamson, N.Y. – (May 19, 2025) – Race of Champions management is set to officially launch the 70th annual season at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY on Friday, May 23, with one of the most anticipated events on the calendar—the 35th Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak 110, featuring the Race of Champions Modified Series.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour kicked off the final day of NASCAR All-Star Weekend at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday afternoon with 150 laps of racing at the historic oval. A race filled with attrition ended with Craig Lutz in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory lane for the fifth time in his career.
