Jonathan Cash announced today he will compete full-time on the SMART Modified Tour for the 2026 season with a new team.
Cash will join Hillbilly Racing to compete in the No. 79, teaming with one of the most historic car numbers in southern modified racing history and the entire Hill family, led by David Hill.

The Rogers Family, who promote and operate Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa., have completed their yearly review of race car specifications and race night rules/procedures and have announced to all competitors that there will be NO CHANGES heading into the 2026 racing season.

During the 75th Anniversary season at Riverhead Raceway in 2025, John Beatty Jr. of Merrick accomplished something that had not been done in thirty years, and just twice over 75-years when he earned his third straight NASCAR Modified championship. Beatty will be feted along with eleven other Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series divisional champions at the Riverhead Raceway awards celebration Friday January 23rd at Giorgio’s Premier Caterers of Baiting Hollow.

(Nov. 18, 2025) – NASCAR today announced the return of the Cook Out Madhouse Classic to historic Bowman Gray Stadium as part of the Cook Out Clash Weekend on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. The day of racing will now include two action-packed Bowman Gray Stadium divisions – the Modified Division and Sportsman Series – delivering an afternoon of high-intensity, hometown action.
Joey Braun of Manorville put a $12,000 bow on his freshman season as a tour type Modified driver Saturday evening by winning the 9th annual Islip 300 at Riverhead Raceway Saturday evening. Braun broke onto the tour type Modified scene on the SMART tour this year, with he and sponsor Rich Gerbe through his HighMark Building Efficiency securing the Hillbilly Racing ride. DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 10, 2025) – NASCAR announced today that Gary Putnam has been named the new Series Director for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, becoming the fifth person to hold the position in the Tour’s storied history. Putnam succeeds Jimmy Wilson, who has overseen the series since 2013. Earlier this year, Wilson accepted the role of Sr. Technical Director of NASCAR Regional.
Putnam joins an esteemed line of Series Directors that includes Jerry Cook (1985–1992), Ed Cox (1993–2007), Chad Little (2008–2012), and Jimmy Wilson (2013–2025). His appointment marks a new chapter for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour as it enters its 41st season in 2026.
