Ryan Preece Drives From Daytona to New Smyrna & Wins Blewett Memorial!

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Preece locked himself into Sunday’s 63rd Annual Daytona 500. Three hours later, after making the quick drive from Daytona International Speedway to New Smyrna Speedway, Preece stood in victory lane celebrating his second career win in the John Blewett III Memorial for Tour-type Modifieds. Riley Herbst begins 2021 with the familiar colors of Monster Energy, but in a new make with a number. He takes over the No. 98 Ford Mustang from Chase Briscoe, who scored nine wins in 2020. Waterbury, VT — The Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park oval is shaping up as the place to watch the biggest stars of Tour-Type Modified Racing in 2021. Entry lists for both the Icebreaker 125 on April 10/11 and the return of the Thompson 300 on October 9/10 are already loaded with local, regional, and even national open-wheel racing headliners.
