SALINAS, Calif. (May 2, 2025) – Practice and qualifying have concluded for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series National and Western Championships at the Mission Foods Laguna Seca SpeedTour at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Three-time champion Rafa Matos in the No. 57 Concord American Flagpole/SHR Chevrolet Camaro earned his first pole award of 2025, setting a new qualifying record with a best lap time of 1:26.330, beating out 2020 champion Mike Skeen (No. 2 Guthrie’s Garage Chevrolet Camaro) by a mere 32-thousandths of a second.

SONOMA, Calif. (April 25, 2025) – The field has been set for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series National and Western Championship race at Sonoma Raceway. Qualifying was canceled due to heavy rain, so the field is set according to practice times. Brent Crews in the No. 10 Mobil 1/Nitro Motorsports Toyota Camry will lead the field to green after laying down a quickest time of 1:32.155 in the weekend’s practice session.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Chase Briscoe spoiled Ford’s pole position party during Wednesday night’s qualifying session for the 67th running of the DAYTONA 500.

Fastest in both rounds of time trials, Briscoe turned a lap in 49.249 seconds (182.745 mph) to secure the top starting spot for Sunday’s race (2:30 p.m. ET on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

NASCAR Adjusts Practice & Qualifying Procedures for 2025 Season

Three National Series Move to Simplified Starting Lineup Process; DAYTONA 500 Pre-Qualifying Practice Added to Weekend Schedule

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 12, 2024) – NASCAR today announced that its three national series – the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series – will adjust the practice and qualifying (P&Q) procedures for the 2025 season. The updated P&Q schedule will include more practice time, consistency in procedure across all three series and a return to simplified starting lineup rules. With the exception of the superspeedway events, each qualifying session will be one round, with each vehicle’s starting position determined solely by its qualifying results.

Sept. 6, 2024, Salt Lake City — Friday qualifying at the 2024 NASA Championships is an interesting proposition. Race drivers have two qualifying sessions to lay down their fastest lap time in an attempt to start from as far forward on grid as possible for the first qualifying race on Saturday.

The morning session is usually the best opportunity to set a fast time. Afternoon sessions give drivers the opportunity to put all their added seat time to good use, but temperatures in the high 80s this afternoon in the Tooele Valley can diminish engine power and decrease the amount of grip on the racing surface. Drivers who lay down a scorcher of a lap in the morning usually set themselves up to be in the best grid position possible. (more…)
