Soper Celebrates 3rd Riverhead Raceway Modified Title In Four Years With A Win
Kyle Soper of Manorville celebrated his third Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified title in the past four seasons at Riverhead Raceway the only way he knows how, with a victory in the regular season finale. Soper, 25 came to the 50-lap event not only having secured the Riverhead title but also on Friday he was announced as the New York State champion in Division 1 of the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series. Riverhead Drivers Dominate Early But Patrick Emerling Prevails In Whelen Modified Tour Miller Lite 200 Saturday
Over the first 115-laps of the Miller Lite 200 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at Riverhead Raceway Saturday a combination of Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead, Dave Brigati of Calverton and Kyle Soper of Manorville showed the way. For awhile it appeared Ed Brunnhoelzl Jr. who was the last Riverhead regular to win a WMT race in 1995 would witness that 26-year mark erased. Then the second half of the race unfolded with WMT championship contender Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, NY taking the lead on lap 116 from Soper to score the victory. (more…)
Justin Bonsignore heads home to Riverhead looking to get back on track
HOLTSVILLE, N.Y. — With just two races remaining in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship fight, Justin Bonsignore is returning home to Riverhead Raceway this weekend. Bonsignore & Emerling Bring 2021 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Championship Battle To Riverhead Raceway
2021 NASCAR Whelen Modified championship contenders Justin Bonsignore and Patrick Emerling reside in polar opposite ends of New York State. Bonsignore of Holtsville lives in the southern most part of the state, while Emerling of Orchard Park lives just south of the Canadian border in a suburb of Buffalo. All spring and summer long however their paths have crossed from Maine to Virginia as the battle for the 2021 NASCAR WMT crown. Doug Coby Grabs Fifth Place Finish At Richmond Raceway
RICHMOND, Va. — In his return to Virginia two decades after graduating from the University of Richmond, Doug Coby grabbed a top-five finish at Richmond Raceway on Friday, September 10. Coby drove the No. 10 Mayhew Tools entry to a fifth-place finish in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Virginia is For Racing Lovers 150 after running inside the top-10 inside the final half of the race. Season On A Somber Saturday Night At Riverhead Raceway
Despite the unthinkable tragic loss of Riverhead Raceway owner Eddie Partridge less than 24 hours prior the decision on whether to run Saturday night’s Tribute To Heroes by Optimum Business would have to be made. During the process those involved asked themselves one question. What would Eddie do? The answer was clear, he’d race and so the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program was presented as scheduled.
