When Danica Patrick took the lead as an Indianapolis 500 rookie 20 years ago, she could see the fans on their feet cheering.
But Patrick didn’t realize why they were cheering.
“I truly thought it was because they were so excited that the race was almost over,” said Patrick, who had taken the lead under caution on Lap 172. “I did not think it was about me.
“I was like, ‘Wow, everybody’s so excited. It’s almost over. It’s exciting.’”
Daniel Sanders led the 2025 Dakar Rally bike class from start to finish at the 47th edition of the world’s toughest off-road race in Saudi Arabia, and the Australian racer is keen to add more trophies to his collection after climbing on to the top step of the podium. AVONDALE, Ariz. – Ryan Blaney climbed out of his No. 12 Team Penske Ford on Phoenix Raceway pit road Sunday and took a few minutes to himself, then hugged his fiancé Gianna and shook hands with his team – clearly exhausted mentally and physically after racing to a mere .330-seconds – the blink of an eye – away from a second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series championship.
It hurt.

Parker Kligerman had been contemplating the next chapter of his professional career prior to taking a full-time gig with Big Machine Racing in the Xfinity Series ahead of the 2023 season. But he wanted to taste Victory Lane once more.
After spending two seasons adapting to the grind of the Xfinity Series, team owner Scott Borchetta hired Kligerman to be the driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet.
