SMX World Championship Playoff 2 Race Report

SMX PlayoffsST. LOUIS (September 13, 2025) – Team Honda HRC Progressive ‘s Hunter Lawrence earned the overall win at Playoff 2 of the SMX World Championship™ inside the Dome at America’s Center. Both 450SMX Class motos delivered intense action down to the final corner, and Hunter’s (1-3) moto finishes netted him the event win and the double-points payout in St. Louis. The victory puts Hunter just 6 points down in the championship with only the Final, which pays triple points, remaining on the 2025 calendar.

Penalty Report: Whelen Modified Tour Driver Stephen Kopcik Suspended One Race

On Wednesday, NASCAR announced the following penalties have been issued coming out of the event at North Wilkesboro Speedway:

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Stephen Kopcik has been suspended for one race and fined $1,500. He will be suspended from NASCAR until the fine is paid and is on probation until December 31, 2025.

Sammy Smith won the Xfinity race.  Anthony Alfredo, of Ridgewood, CT came in 15th.  Patrick Emerling of Long Island, NY finished 19th.  Not as lucky was Kris Wright who was 28th and Justin Bonsignore, another Long Islander, finished 38th.  Kris Wright steers the only Chris and Mary Our entry for that Cape Cod family that reside in Chatham, MA.
Tyler Ankrom came out on top of the Craftsman Trucks on Friday.  Gio Ruggerio of Seekonk, MA earned the tenth position.  It wasn’t the best that Parker Kligerman from Westport, CT turned in that day which was 25th.

Additional Report On New-England Drivers at Daytona 2025
Corey Heim got the NASCAR Truck win at Daytona when Parker Kligerman of Westport, CT was DQ’d and moved to last place.  But it was good news for Gio Ruggiero of Seekonk, MA who  ended up in second place on Friday night!
Jesse Love won the Xfinity race on Saturday with Patrick Emerling of Long Island, NY coming in tenth.  Leland Honeyman finished in 21st then it was Anthony Alfredo in 22nd from Ridgewood, CT.  Justin Bonsignore of Long Island, NY finished 25th. Honeyman drives an entry for Cape Cod’s Chris and Mary Our who reside in Chatham, MA.
William Byron won the rain-delayed Daytona 500 for the second time.  Corey LaJoie ended his day in 22nd while Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT. got 32nd place and Joey Logano of Middletown, CT ended up 35th.

After a 50-minute practice session, teams turned their attention to single-car qualifying under the lights, setting the front row for Sunday’s race and determining the lineups for Thursday’s Duel races.
