DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – After opening the 2025 season with the two longest races of the season followed by one of the short 100-minute sprints, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship settled into its first “standard-length” race this weekend.

Sunday’s TireRack.com Monterey SportsCar Championship was anything but standard for a number of reasons, though. Let’s delve into a few of those as takeaways from another stellar show at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

“Repeat-Repeat” Race Win for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing Team Winward Racing at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, California – Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing team Winward Racing – the reigning IMSA GT Daytona (GTD) class champions – turned in a “perfect” performance for a “repeat-repeat” GTD class race win Sunday in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca (WRLS). The win from fourth on the grid was a GTD class-leading second victory of the season for the Winward No. 57 drivers and second consecutive at WRLS after winning on the 3.238-mile road course for the first time last year. Winward’s first 2025 victory in the 12 Hours of Sebring in March was also a repeat performance after winning the classic endurance at Sebring International Raceway for the second-straight time in March.

Highlighted by a win in Race One for the No. 14 Sparklefarts Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, the team continued its momentum in Race Two with a double podium, finishing second and third.

Favorable Forecast Washes Away; Community Bank 150 Moved to June 1 at Thunder Road

Barre, VT – Thunder Road Speedbowl and Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour officials announced this morning that the 27th annual Community Bank 150, originally scheduled for Sunday, May 4, has been postponed due to the forecast. The Community Bank 150 has been moved to Sunday, June 1 with all four originally-scheduled divisions. All Pit Passes purchased for the originally scheduled event will be honored on June 1, teams must keep and present them at the gate as their rain-check.

‘It’s their choice’: Road America president discusses the possibility of NASCAR returning

ELKHART LAKE – If NAS C AR is returning to Wisconsin with a national race anytime soon, Road America’s president gave no indication that would happen at his track.

Mike Kertscher characterized his most recent contact with NASCAR officials as an exchange of pleasantries during the Rolex 24 at Daytona endurance race weekend in Florida in January.

“I mean, they know who we are,” Kertscher said May 1 during his annual, wide-ranging Q&A with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “They certainly understand what we’re capable of.

Brody Goble Earns Pole for Western Championship, Barry Boes Quickest in Pro/Am Challenge

SALINAS, Calif. (May 2, 2025) – Practice and qualifying have concluded for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series National and Western Championships at the Mission Foods Laguna Seca SpeedTour at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Three-time champion Rafa Matos in the No. 57 Concord American Flagpole/SHR Chevrolet Camaro earned his first pole award of 2025, setting a new qualifying record with a best lap time of 1:26.330, beating out 2020 champion Mike Skeen (No. 2 Guthrie’s Garage Chevrolet Camaro) by a mere 32-thousandths of a second.
