Rick Martin never had grand ambitions when it came to racing. After watching his dad compete for 21 years, the sport was just something he wanted to try.
“Me and one of my friends bought a $50 car and went out there,” Martin said. “The other cars went by us so fast, I thought to myself, ‘I ain’t never gonna go that fast, I’m going to just quit now.’
“But I just kept at it, kept at it, and I guess it was the challenge that I enjoyed.”
Seekonk Speedway’s 80th anniversary season of short-track racing in Massachusetts is here. The Action Track of the East will open the campaign on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, with two different days of excitement for fans.

Modified and Supermodified winner Jon McKennedy announced Thursday a busy schedule for the 2025 racing season. Again for 2025, McKennedy will compete in both the Tour-Type Modifieds and the Supermodifieds, mixed between multiple different divisions with both classes.
Between all divisions, McKennedy has roughly 35 races planned.
