NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour car owner Steve Mendoza, and five-time Riverhead Raceway NASCAR Tour Type Modified champion Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead announced Tuesday morning they are joining forces for the Miller Lite Salutes Wayne Anderson 200 WMT event Saturday May 18th. The event celebrates the 30th anniversary of Wayne Anderson’s 1994 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship.
Steve Letarte Believes William Byron Was Promoted Too Early
William Byron has been in the NASCAR scene since 2015. Still, it seems that his career has been pretty much fast-tracked. He debuted in the Truck Series in 2015, with a full-time debut in 2016. A year later, he had his full-time Xfinity Series debut, grabbing four wins and the title. Then in 2018, he moved up once again, this time to the Cup Series, and has been racing there ever since. Interestingly, according to former Hendrick Motorsports crew chief Steve Letarte from Cornish, ME, the 24-year-old may have moved too early.

Just two points separate leader Brett Kressley from challenger Craig Von Dohren in the chase for the lucrative NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series T.P.Trailers Modified point title at Grandview Speedway. With the help of two wins Kressley has 1411 points while defending champion, 11 times in fact, Craig Von Dohren has 1409 counters and has done it without benefit of a win but has had consistent performances. Shawn Solomito Takes Modified Win Saturday At Riverhead Raceway
A chance conversation started during the 2020 Islip 300 last November at Riverhead Raceway morphed into Shawn Solomito of Islip teaming up with Jimmy & Angela Rennick as the driver of their NASCAR Modified and in just their second start together Saturday night Shawn put the new combination into the winners circle at the conclusion of the 50-lap Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified event. BECHTELSVILLE, PA. May 9, 2021. Ma Nature smiled on Grandview Speedway Saturday night and allowed a Mom’s Night NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series tripleheader to be completed with Duane Howard battling with Jesse Leiby in the T.P. Trailers 358 NASCAR 30-lap Modified feature beginning on the 15th lap. The veteran campaigner tried to dive underneath the rookie and later attempted the outside trek, but each attempt failed. Finally on the 22nd lap, the six-time point champion got past Leiby and went on to take the win. (more…)

Drellos starts title defense with a big win at Devil’s Bowl
WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Demetrios Drellos picked up right where he left off last year: On top at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The reigning Sportsman Modified champion opened the new season on Saturday, May 1, with a dominant win during a wildly unpredictable night presented by Mike’s Fuels of Bridport. A total of 118 racecars jammed the pit area and outer parking lot as a nice spectator crowd filtered in for the 2021 lid-lifter, and Drellos collected a whopping $3,200 for his victory in the race honoring the late Matt Bilodeau. Brian Brown Delivers Emotional Street Stock May Meltdown Win For Car Owner Rob Bader Sunday At Riverhead Raceway
During the off season former Blunderbust driver Rob Bader wanted to return grassroots racing in 2021 and during the winter went out and got a Street Stock for competition at Riverhead Raceway. Among the goals Rob set was for the car to be a tribute to his late Uncle Jay Hulse former Charger driver. Then unexpected wrist surgery put Rob on injured list but undaunted he tabbed good friend Brian Brown of Riverhead to steer the car in Sunday’s May Meltdown event and in a storybook finish Brown delivered an emotional win for Bader and his family. John Beatty Jr. Tops Opening Night Modified Feature At Riverhead Raceway Saturday
The gates swung open Saturday evening for the 71st season of stock car racing at Riverhead Raceway and when the checker flag waved on the 50-lap Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modified feature John Beatty Jr. of Merrick sat in the winner circle after surviving a late race restart with 11 laps remaining in the race to post his 9th career victory. A solid and talented field of 20 Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds signed in for the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series opener. (more…)

The chase for the championships, part of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series, continues at Grandview Speedway with Brett Kressley continuing to be the leader in the T.P.Trailers Modified division. With two wins and 1131 points Kressley has just a 19 point lead over defending champion Craig Von Dohren who has 1112 but has yet to visit victory lane. Jared Umbenhauer sits third in the standings with 1033 points followed by Jeff Strunk at 977 and Louden Reimert holding 941. Kressley has two wins while Jared Umbenhauer and Danny Bouc each have one win. There have been 43 teams earn points. (more…)
