Sheldon Creed heads into Daytona International Speedway following back-to-back runner-up finishes at the track, including a narrow loss in last year’s Wawa 250. Throughout the length of his young Xfinity Series career, it has been boom-or-bust for Creed at Daytona, as he has scored three top-tens and three DNFs across six starts. Sheldon Creed and the No. 18 GR Supra crew return from the Xfinity Series’ three-week hiatus to run the Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan International Speedway. Creed has two prior NXS starts at the 2-mile oval and has finished just shy of the top 10 both times, as he scored finishes of 11th and 12th in his two starts, respectively. Taylor Gray has run eight NXS with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) this season, with a best finish of third in his series debut at Richmond. Gray’s last race with JGR was at Pocono where he earned his second top-five finish of the season. The 19-year-old secured his spot in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) Playoffs last weekend in the regular season finale and will have a chance to compete for the series championship. (more…)

Chandler Smith will make his inaugural start with Joe Gibbs Racing this weekend at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Smith has several starts across NASCAR series the World Center of Racing. The young driver has two NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) starts and two NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) starts at the track. In his last visit to the historic superspeedway, Creed came just .005 seconds away from his first career Xfinity Series victory, as he finished just inches behind race-winner Justin Allgaier.
TRUEX AT DAYTONA: Ryan Truex will kick off his eighth career NASCAR Xfinity Series season this weekend in the United Rentals 300 at Daytona International Speedway when he gets behind the wheel of the No. 19 Toyota SmartPath GR Supra. In four starts at the iconic track, Truex has one top-ten, three laps led, and an average finish of 15.8, highlighted by a seventh-place finish in 2018.
