If you’re a motorsports fan—or even a casual car enthusiast—be honest: You’ve watched F1, NASCAR, or another racing series and had the thought, ‘I could do that; all they’re doing is driving a car!’
Well, as professional drivers, we’ve always dealt with this by rolling our eyes and attempting to explain that driving your street car isn’t even using 1% of its capability. Harrison Burton and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team are headed to the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway needing a stellar run to advance to the Round of 12 in the Cup Series Playoffs.
Burton is 16th in the standings, 20 points below the cutoff for advancement to the next round. After Saturday night’s 500-lapper on the high-banked half-mile, the bottom four drivers in the Playoff standings will be eliminated from championship contention. (more…)
LEBANON, Tenn. — Among all the drivers in the NTT IndyCar Series field, perhaps nobody’s name is more associated with controversy as Santino Ferrucci.
The Woodbury, Conn., native has developed a reputation and reinforced it this season as a major threat on ovals. Ferrucci demanded attention more than a handful of times when the series came to World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway and the Milwaukee Mile by pulling off a series of high-risk moves at both venues and walking away with two fourth-place finishes (both in the Milwaukee doubleheader) from those three races, with a 12th-place finish at Gateway being the outlier.
Kevin Harvick has accused Ford of undermining Stewart-Haas Racing to favor its other teams, asserting that Ford prefers its cars to win over SHR’s. Harvick, a big figure at SHR during his NASCAR Cup Series career, offered this insight following his departure after the 2023 season and amid SHR’s struggling 2024 performance.
The 2024 season for SHR has been a challenging one, with Chase Briscoe assuming the role of leading driver after Harvick’s exit. However, Briscoe managed a vital victory at Darlington, securing a playoff spot and providing a significant morale boost to a team that needed it. (more…)
Hickory, NC — Although rain dampened the Easter Bunny Weekend of Speed on Friday, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials created a new plan for an epic Saturday doubleheader that saw both the St. Patrick’s Day and Easter Bunny programs go off without a hitch for the American-Canadian Tour. Teams saw both highs and lows in one of the busiest days on record, several drivers earning much-needed redemption to cap off the busy Saturday schedule and started their 2023 season on solid ground.
Thursday’s announcement that General Motors and its Cadillac brand were partnering with Michael Andretti caught most of the racing world by surprised.
One person who wasn’t surprised was racing legend and former F1 champion Mario Andretti, who said the deal with GM should finally put son Michael’s F1 bid over the top. (more…)
