If there’s ever a venue poised to bring its A-game action following last week’s Martinsville (Va.) Speedway thriller, the NASCAR Xfinity Series should be in good shape with Saturday’s Sports Clips Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200 (3 p.m. ET on The CW Network, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) at Darlington Raceway.

The venerable 1.366-mile track has a fantastic history of high-drama and important races.

No. 48 Team ‘Cut It Too Close’ Before Roval Disqualification – Gordon

Hendrick Motorsports vice chairman Jeff Gordon says that the organization didn’t see anything they were comfortable enough to build an appeal around for Alex Bowman and the No. 48 team.

Bowman was disqualified from Sunday’s race at the Charlotte Roval because his Chevrolet was too light in post-race inspection. There have been no details from NASCAR or Hendrick Motorsports regarding how far out of tolerance the car was, or what caused it to be too light. After crossing the finish line 18th, Bowman was moved to last place in the finishing order and credited with one point for the event.

Harrison Burton and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team, fresh off a win last Saturday night at Daytona, are headed into this weekend’s Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway with a burst of momentum.

“It’s hard for me to put into words how special getting this Wood Brothers Racing team their 100th win is to both myself and to Harrison,” said crew chief Jeremy Bullins. “Obviously we haven’t met our own expectations this season, but we knew Daytona would a great opportunity to try to get a win and turn things around. Steve Letarte Believes William Byron Was Promoted Too Early

William Byron has been in the NASCAR scene since 2015. Still, it seems that his career has been pretty much fast-tracked. He debuted in the Truck Series in 2015, with a full-time debut in 2016. A year later, he had his full-time Xfinity Series debut, grabbing four wins and the title. Then in 2018, he moved up once again, this time to the Cup Series, and has been racing there ever since. Interestingly, according to former Hendrick Motorsports crew chief Steve Letarte from Cornish, ME, the 24-year-old may have moved too early.
