The second race in the Round of 8 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series takes place Saturday in the back half of a NASCAR doubleheader at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Contender Boats 300 (3 p.m. ET on USA Network, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) marks the 29th series race at the 1.5-mile track – most of any NASCAR series there – and there have been 22 different race winners.
Stewart-Haas Racing’s Riley Herbst finally accomplished what every driver strives for when they get behind the wheel of a race car – a trip to Victory Lane. His first win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series came after 139 starts, 24 top fives, 68 top 10s and three Xfinity Series Playoff appearances (2020, 2021, 2022). Herbst is the 15th different winner in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season, tying 2023 with the 1987, 2004, 2014 and 2018 seasons for the fourth-most different winners through 30 races.
It appears there is a new road course ringer in the NASCAR Xfinity Series – JR Motorsports’ Sam Mayer. The 20-year-old driver, Mayer, had a dominate performance on the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, leading 50 of the 67 laps and snagging the win by .909 seconds over runner-up Cole Custer.
The stakes are high for the Xfinity Series Playoff contenders as they head to the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course for the Drive for the Cure 250 presented by BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina on Saturday, October 7 at 3 p.m. ET (NBC, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and the NBC Sports App) – the first elimination race of the Playoff season.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.: Officials from AM Racing confirmed today that Ford Performance Motorsports development driver Hailie Deegan has inked a multiyear deal with the team to pilot the No. 15 Ford Mustang full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series beginning with the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) NASCAR will etch another first into the record books in 2024 when the Cup Series visits Iowa Speedway in the nation’s Heartland, the latest installment in a trend that has seen Cup Series debuts at the Chicago Street Race, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and World Wide Technology Raceway – among other venues – in recent years.
