Sheldon Haudenschild made his way back to the top of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series field on Friday at Beaver Dam Raceway. In doing so, he and father Jac reached a special milestone.
The Ohioan led all 35 laps of Friday’s feature, becoming the third driver to earn back-to-back wins in the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial after Joey Saldana and Brad Sweet. It was the sixths win of the season for the No. 17 Stenhouse Jr. / Marshall Racing squad, leaving them atop the wins list for the season.
Friday’s win was also the younger Haudenschild’s 28th with the World of Outlaws. Combined with the 72 earned by his father, Jac, that made the result the 100th WoO feature win for the Haudenschild family.
“This one is all of my guys,” Haudenschild proclaimed. (Kyle) Ripper is a smart guy, and we’ve got Stephen (Hamm-Reilly) and Jakob (Weaver) working their tails off. They deserve these wins as much as anyone else. We just needed a little time to click, but now were taking advantage of it. It’s pretty cool to get dad and I up to 100 wins. I’ve got a ways to go to catch him, but we’ll keep clicking away.”
Carson Macedo followed Haudenschild in second, with David Gravel of Watertown, CT completing the podium. Spencer Bayston and Logan Schuchart wrapped up the top-five, with Sweet, Rico Abreu, Giovanni Scelzi, Donny Schatz and Aaron Reutzel making up the rest of the top-10.
Another feature at Beaver Dam Raceway is set to take place tonight, followed by a quartet of series races at Huset’s Speedway next weekend.
