INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., (September 16, 2024) – Rounds nine and 10 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend, and Flying Lizard Motorsports will bring three of its four Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo2 entries for a late-season push for the Pro-Am class title. This weekend’s doubleheaders will act as the final two North American races before the competitors head to Jerez, Spain for the Lamborghini World Finals in November.
Following a challenging weekend at Circuit of the Americas, Slade Stewart and Andy Lee enter the weekend in third place in the Pro-Am class standings with Sparklefarts, their No. 14 pink unicorn Lamborghini. With one win and two top-five finishes acquired this season, the pair can still fight for a bid in the championship, standing just 14 points behind the points leaders. The pair earned a top-five finish at the famed road course in 2023 but will look to better that result this weekend.
The No. 41 entry of Paul Nemschoff and Marc Miller sustained heavy damage following the previous doubleheader at Circuit of the Americas and will not be able to participate in this weekend’s rounds. The pair will return to action in November’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo World finals.
Due to business commitments of driver Tim Pappas, the No. 54 Lamborghini will undergo a driver change this weekend, with IMSA WeatherTech race winner Patrick Lindsey subbing in for Pappas. He’ll race alongside full-season driver Jeroen Bleekemolen. The No. 54 entry has celebrated one win and four additional podiums this season but also faced a challenging weekend at the previous Circuit of the Americas rounds.
“I was honored Tim Pappas thought of me to fill his seat in his absence,” said Patrick Lindsey. “I couldn’t ask for a better team or codriver to use as resources in this proverbial jump into the deep end. I look forward to knocking the rust off quickly and getting to work in helping give Jeroen the best chance possible at a championship run.”
Sam Shi will be looking for some good luck to swing his way after a tough weekend in Texas. Racing the No. 98 Lamborghini, Shi holds one podium and four top-five results but looks to close out the North American leg of the championship on a high note.
“With two rounds and four races left in the championship anything is possible and we are still in the hunt in the Pro/Am class,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “Last race turned out to be a tough weekend, but we have had great runs at Indy in the past. We have good cars, and our drivers know the circuit well. It is unfortunate that Tim Pappas cannot make the event this weekend, but it will also be great to have Patrick Lindsey joining Jeroen this coming weekend and this still give him an opportunity to keep fighting for the championship.”
The first of two races of the weekend will take place on Friday, September 22nd at 4:00 PM ET, followed by race two on Saturday the 21st at 5:10 PM ET. Both 50-minute races will air live on imsa.com/tvlive and Peacock.
