Saturday evening as a large crowd looked on, three NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series features were contested with 2025 Riverhead Raceway championships hanging in the balance for all three classes prior to the Whelen Modified Tour Eddie Partridge 256. Austin Beers of Northampton, Pa. would collect his first career Riverhead WMT victory when he paced Ron Silk of Norwalk. Ct. and Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville to the checkers. Beers now holds a 13-point championship lead over Bonsignore with two WMT events remaining at Thompson and Martinsville in the coming weeks.
In a non-stop 25-lap Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modified event Andrew Farnham of Baldwin took full advantage of starting from the pole to lead wire-to-wire for his second win of 2025 in his KRG Contracting Chevy. Sean Glennon cased the eventual winner early before Vinny Delaney raced by for the position on lap 4. Delaney came to the finale six markers back of championship leader Michael Berner and just two back of Eric Hersey who were separated by four markers for the title. When the dust settled Delaney was runner-up in the Stakey’s Pumpkin Farm Chevy at the checker, Eric Hersey of Commack third in the Peterson Irrigation entry and Michael Berner of Patchogue crossed the line fifth in the M3 Technology mount. What those finishes added up to was the three-way tie for the championship with Eric Hersey, a two-time winner in 2025 holding the first tiebreaker over Berner and Delaney who each won once. The 2025 Eagle Chevrolet Crate Modified championship is the second track title for Hersey who captured the INEX Legend Race Car championship in 2022.
The 20-lap Blunderbust feature would also go green to checker without interruption with former champion Cody Triola of Bay Shore notching his 5th win of 2025. Triola and Tom Sullivan made up the front row on the grid with Triola leaping out to the early lead comfortably. Joe Densieski of Riverhead realizing all he had to do was finish and keep Triola in his sight quickly raced his way by Sullivan for second prior to the completion of the first lap. For the remainder of the race Triola would show the way in the C&L Aluminum & Glass racer earning a milestone 20th career win, tying him for fifth all-time with Jim Laird Jr. all-time. With his runner-up finish in the Hydro Action Caprice Joe Densieski becomes the oldest driver to earn a championship at Riverhead Raceway at 59 years, and 6 months old. Bill Park of Manorville has held that distinction since 2008 after winning his fourth NASCAR Modified crown at 58 years, and 4 months old. Jim Laird Jr. of Islip Terrace came home third in the final feature with his Wing Away Restaurant Caprice.
Perhaps the driver the with largest championship lead entering the final race had to sweat it out the most during the 20-lap INEX Legend Race Car feature event. Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead came to the race basically just needing to start with a 50-point cushion over both Riely O’Keefe of Manorville and Anthony Marsh of Riverhead. Things started off just fine for Ellwood, racing out front early from the pole with young Jayden Glennerster in tow for the first two laps. On lap 3 Anthony Marsh worked his way by Glennerster for second to chase Ellwood. Just prior to halfway things quickly heated up. Riely O’Keefe was able to sneak by Marsh on lap 8, wasting little time getting to race and championship leader Ellwood. On lap 9 as the duo raced through the third and fourth turn contact was made, first O’Keefe into Ellwood, who got loose, O’Keefe tried racing under the leader off four, but Ellwood came down and Riely wound up spinning, making slight contact with the inside wall. O’Keefe was able to continue at the rear, where he was joined by Ellwood at the request of race control. This wild turn of events left Anthony Marsh as the race leader, with Glennerster alongside in second. When the race resumed Marsh in the George Tomko Racing coupe would lead until the checkers flew for his second win of 2025, the 7th of his career. All-time leading winner Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches took second away on the restart where he would finish in the Hampton Fleet Service entry, while Jayden Glennerster of Calverton enjoyed a solid podium performance in his Riverhead Toyota machine. Despite a mid-race trip to the back of the field, Kyle Ellwood with his 9th place finish earned his second career INEX Legend Race Car championship, this time with the Millennium Limited Contracting team. Kyle had won the 2012 title.
John Jasinski of Flanders scored his first career Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars victory leading wire-to-wire in the Boots Fabricating Gary Cretty Tribute Vega. With the late Bruce Sanford riding as his copilot, Jasinski raced for the pole to the lead and never looked back multi-time race winner Sal Accardi Jr. of Deer Park would keep Jasinski honest all race long before settling for second in the A-Plus Auto Salvage racer. Tom Pickerell of Huntington made a late race pass to claim third in the Kevin Bacik owned Cavalier.
