Lime Rock Park Debuts Intro to Racing for 2026 Season

Lime Rock Park Debuts Intro to Racing for 2026 SeasonLAKEVILLE, Conn. (25 February 2026)- At Lime Rock Park, the sound of engines has defined summer weekends for nearly seven decades. Now, the historic 1.5-mile road course is introducing a new way for first-time drivers to move from Spectator Hill to being on the track themselves.

Lime Rock Park is thrilled to announce the launch of its Intro to Racing program, a structured entry point onto the main circuit designed specifically for novices and first-time track drivers. Participants use their own street cars and progress through a supervised curriculum that combines classroom instruction and on-track experience.

Seven dates are slated for the 2026 season, with the inaugural session scheduled for Wednesday, April 29.

“When most fans think of Lime Rock Park, they picture the scenes from the grassy hillside, taking in the LIUNA 150 or soaking in the sights and sounds of the Historic Festival,” said Lime Rock Park Chief of Marketing Jamie Kistner. “Those who’ve had the chance know that one of the best seats in the house is behind the wheel of a car—any car. Now, The Park offers a way to get exactly that experience.

“We’re excited to introduce Intro to Racing as a new step in our driver development ladder.” continued Kistner. “This program creates a clear, responsible path onto our road course. We want drivers to understand not just how to go fast, but how to operate safely and confidently in a professional motorsports environment. Intro to Racing is about education first.”

Intro to Racing is a five-hour program that combines classroom sessions with paced laps, coached stop-box exercises and controlled open lapping. Instructors review safety procedures, vehicle dynamics, racing lines and flag communication before drivers apply those lessons on track.

Track sessions are limited to a maximum of 12 cars at a time to help maintain a controlled and instructional setting. Passing is permitted only by point-by in designated zones and is managed according to driver group and experience level.

Although the program is designed for newcomers, it requires preparation. Participants must first complete either an Autocross Lapping Day or Track Tapas program at Lime Rock Park and receive instructor signoff before registering. The prerequisite ensures drivers have demonstrated baseline car control and familiarity with track protocol.

Helmets are required for participation. Drivers can bring their own SA2020 or newer helmet or rent one for an additional $25 at registration. (view the safety and equipment checklist)

Since opening in 1957, Lime Rock Park has hosted professional and amateur racing events that helped shape American road racing. Intro to Racing extends that legacy by providing a formal and accessible introduction to circuit driving.
