The NASCAR Xfinity Series Heads Back to the ‘Paperclip’ of Short Tracks

As the NASCAR Xfinity Series winds down the 2024 season, the drivers and teams will now be heading to Martinsville Speedway for the Playoffs’ penultimate race, the National Debt Relief 250, on Saturday, November 2 at 4 p.m. ET on the CW, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90).

This will be the 43rd NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Martinsville Speedway. The previous 42 races have produced 28 different race winners and 22 different pole winners. Only six races have been won from the pole or first starting position, but it’s been over 35 years since a driver was able to accomplish the feat – most recently by Jimmy Hensley in 1987.

Parker Kligerman had been contemplating the next chapter of his professional career prior to taking a full-time gig with Big Machine Racing in the Xfinity Series ahead of the 2023 season. But he wanted to taste Victory Lane once more.

After spending two seasons adapting to the grind of the Xfinity Series, team owner Scott Borchetta hired Kligerman to be the driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet. Kligerman, a racing journeyman, hadn’t competed in an entire schedule in any series in a decade. Simultaneously, he beefed up his broadcasting resume as a pit reporter for NBC Sports. (more…)

How did New England-Connected Drivers Perform at Homestead?
Tyler Reddick won the Cup race with Ryan Preece of Berlin, CT coming in tenth with Joey Logano of Middletown, CT finishing 28th and Kaz Gala of Boston turning up 32nd while Corey LaJoie being awarded 35th.  Corey LaJoie is the son of Two Time Xfinity Champ Randy LaJoie who spent his younger years in his home town of Norwalk, CT, near the northern NASCAR action before heading South to be closer to the top NASCAR racing.
Austin Hill won the Xfinity race while Parker Kligerman of Westport, CT took 11th place with Kyle Weatherman caming  in 14th followed by Anthony Alfredo of Ridgefield, CT grabbed 15th and Blair Perkins came in 34th.  Weatherman, Alfredo and Perkins all drive team cars for Cape Cod’s Chris Our and his daughter Mary. Both reside in Chatham, MA.

(Oct. 25, 2024) – As announced during Friday afternoon’s media availability session at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Justin Allgaier and cornerstone partner BRANDT Professional Agriculture are returning to JR Motorsports in a multi-year renewal that will run through the 2026 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. As the second-longest tenured-partner for JRM at ten years, BRANDT will assume the role of primary partner for Allgaier and the No.7 Chevrolet for 20 events during the 2025 and 2026 NXS seasons, as well as receive associate placement on the remaining races. Following the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series in a double-header, action-packed Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the NASCAR Xfinity Series sets its sights on the Credit One NASCAR AMEX Credit Card 300 on October 26 at 3:30 p.m. ET on the CW, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio – the second race in the Playoffs’ Round of 8.

The 1.5-mile South Florida track, Homestead-Miami Speedway, has hosted 30 NASCAR Xfinity Series races since the inaugural event in 1995, producing 23 different race winners and almost as many pole winners (21).
