Burton, DEX Imaging Team Open Playoff Bid In Quaker State 400 At Atlanta

Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging team kick off their 2024 Playoff run this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Sunday’s Quaker State 400 is the opening race of the Round of 16, and Burton, who will be making his 100th career Cup start, enters the event 14th in points thanks to his win in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

The three races in the opening Playoff round are at AMS, followed by Watkins Glen and Bristol Motor Speedway after which the bottom four drivers in the standings will be eliminated from championship contention. (more…)

HAMLIN AT ATLANTA: Denny Hamlin owns one win in 28 starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Overall, he has posted six top-five finishes, 10 top-10s, and 452 laps led at the 1.54-mile track. Hamlin has led in six of the past seven Atlanta races, including 15 laps when the series visited in February. Earlier this year, Hamlin finished 23rd at Atlanta after being collected in multiple accidents during the 400-mile race.

REGULAR SEASON RECAP: During the 26-race regular season, Hamlin scored three wins, nine top-five finishes, 12 top-10s, three pole awards, and 917 laps led. According to Loop Data provided by NASCAR, Hamlin leads the series in green flag speed, fastest on restarts, fastest drivers late in a run, and laps in the top 15. SECOND SEASON: Ty Gibbs is competing in his second full NASCAR Cup Series season driving the No. 54 He Gets Us Toyota Camry XSE for Joe Gibbs Racing. He has 11 top-10 and seven top-five finishes and is 15th in points which qualified him for the NASCAR Playoffs for the first time.

LAPS LED: He has led 352 laps this season, which is the most he has led in any Cup season.

FIRST: In May at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Gibbs scored his first career pole position in the Cup Series. He second pole position was won on July 13 at Pocono Raceway. (more…)

This was Ford’s 42nd NASCAR Cup Series victory at Daytona. Ford won its first race at Daytona on Feb. 24, 1963 with Tiny Lund.

There were seven caution periods for a total of 34 laps.

Only 20 of the 40 drivers in the race finished on the lead lap.

Tyler Reddick remains the championship leader after Daytona with a 17-point advantage over second-place Kyle Larson. (more…)

Round 3 of 4. Beard Motorsports returns to NASCAR Cup Series competition for the third of four races this season during Saturday night’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. It will be the family-owned team’s 29th start since its Cup Series debut at the 2017 Daytona 500, and its 13th overall start on the iconic, 2.5-mile Daytona oval. While five different drivers have previously wheeled the No. 62 Beard Chevrolet since its inaugural season, with a particular focus on Daytona and its sister track, Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, the team welcomes its sixth driver in 21-year-old Parker Retzlaff, who will be making his second career Cup Series start and first at Daytona Saturday night. NASCAR Cup Series Race at Kansas Speedway Renamed Hollywood Casino 400 Presented by ESPN BET

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Aug. 19, 2024) – Kansas Speedway’s NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race on Sept. 29 has a new name. The track announced today that the race will now be called the Hollywood Casino 400 presented by ESPN BET.

ESPN BET is PENN Entertainment’s online sportsbook that is live in Kansas. Additionally, Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway is rebranding its physical sportsbook to become “ESPN BET Sportsbook” this month. The casino has been the entitlement partner of Kansas Speedway’s fall NASCAR Cup Series race since 2011, and the excitement it produces continues to grow.
